The Chairman of APC Elders Forum in Delta State, Mr. Hyacinth Enuha has described the recent face-off between Mr. Pat Utomi and ex-Delta governor, Mr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as a healthy development for Delta state.
It would be recalled that Udughan and Utomi recently engaged each other in a war of words over allegations of mismanagement of the state resources by successive administration in the state.
Enuha, in a statement signed by his media assistant, Mr. Nnamdi Ofonye, Tuesday in Asaba, obtained by HardReporters correspondent said the war of words between the two men which bordered on the financial state or otherwise of Delta over the years would help bring out many hidden facts in the public domain, noting that the many issues of financial mismanagement raised in the exchange of words should be given serious attention.
“It is important that the issues raised in their exchange of words should be given serious attention based on the fact that Prof. Pat Utomi, a world-acclaimed economist seem to have facts and figures of his accusations.
“Utomi, who is a financial expert seem to have facts of the over 16 years of mismanagement of the state’s funds by the PDP administration, especially during the Mr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s era,” Enuha said.
The APC chieftain argued that if citizens of the state would make it a responsibility to come and state the obvious as it concerns the running of the state by any administration, it would help the state to grow.
“If only notable sons and daughters of Delta will come out and reveal the hidden truths concerning finances of the state under successive administrations in the state.
“It will be a major step in helping the people know early enough when those in government begins to go astray and will be called to order early enough,” he said.
Enuha said that if the past administration of ex-governor, Uduaghan had taken seriously the various partnership agreements it entered, as recently alleged by Utomi, Delta would not have been in its present state.
He further stated that the claims and counter claims by the two prominent sons of the state have reawakened the consciousness of the people of Deltan to transparency and good governance.
According to him, there is the need for all those who have facts to bring them to a round table alongside the major players in the governance of the state, especially past and present governors.
“When we have facts and figures, people can sit and discuss the way forward and bring to an end the visible mismanagement of the state’s resources by correcting past mistakes to avoid future occurrence,” Enuha said.
He however cautioned that while the exchange of claims or otherwise continues, it must be issue based and must not be allowed to degenerate into personal attacks as it will at the end, benefit the people of the state.
