Following Tuesday protest and chasing away of Delta state governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa from commissioning Ogaga road in Sapele, Sapele local government area of the state by hired thugs led by the impeached speaker of the state house of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya, HardReporters learnt the governor may have concluded plans to cancel his proposed town hall meeting with the people in Sapele billed to take place Wednesday, May, 17, 2017.

HardReporters recalled that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was whisked away by his aides Tuesday when thugs allegedly hired by the impeached Delta state House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Monday Igbuya stormed the venue to be used for the governor to commission Ogaga Road and inspect some projects in the area as part of activities marking his two years in office.

Our correspondent learnt that, Okowa and his deputy, Mr. Kingsley Otuaro and other top government officials as well as members of the state executive, the new speaker of the state Assembly, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy, Mr. Friday Osanibi had seated for the commissioning of the road when the thugs led by Igbuya protested to the venue of the ceremony and cause a breach of security.

A security personnel attached to governor Okowa, in the state government house, Asaba, confided in HardReporters that the governor who is slated to address a town hall meeting at the Sapele-Okpe community town hall, Wednesday in continuation of his state wide town hall meetings, has resolved to put off the meeting as a result of unfavourable security reports coming from the area against the governor’s Wednesday event.

“The governor is not pleased at all at all over the event which played out today (Tuesday) at Sapele, where the removed speaker of the house of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya mobilised thugs against the governor. It was a big breach of security and as at this moment, security reports at our disposal which we have already briefed and advised the governor on, the governor is already considering the cancellation of the Sapele town hall meeting.

“We got a security report that on Wednesday, during the proposed town hall meeting in Sapele, there will be a serious blood bath between a group of hired thugs working for the impeached speaker of the state Assembly, Mr. Igbuya and other thugs loyal to the former DESOPADEC commissioner and house of Assembly member, Mr. Michael Diden (AKA Ejele).

“However, if the security improves, then the governor will attend the meeting but if it doesn’t at all that means the Sapele meeting will be put off to some other time. Again, we the governor’s security team, we are also looking at the need to have more heavy presence of security operatives on ground during the town hall meeting. All the options will be fully x-rayed and decide whether to carry on or put off.” our source said.

Delta state house of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya was last week impeached as speaker of the state Assembly and immediately replaced with a new Speaker, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori, representing Okpe constituency by 22 out of the 29 members of the house, which has continued to generate controversy and rumours of reinstatement of Igbuya to the seat through the alleged intervention of ex- convicted former governor of the state, Mr. James Ibori, a rumour Ibori has since dismissed
