There was pandemonium Wednesday following the beheading of a mother of five at Okwagbe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State by yet to be identified persons suspected to be ritualists. The name of the deceased which was given as Mrs. Atisin Opviarho generally called ‘Mama’, HardReporters reliably learnt had gone to the farm with her neighbours at the early hours of the day where her head was chopped off by the ritualists.

A community source who spoke with HardReporters correspondent disclosed that the killers intentions were to use her parts for rituals, narrating that “They went to the farm this morning as usual. So when they got to their respective farms which share common boundaries, everyone was working in their separate farms until it was time to go home. They called out to her but there was no response. So they decided to walk into her farm, only to discover her lifeless body in the pool of blood. Her throat was cut with a knife.” the source said.

According to another source, “From what was observed from the corpse, the assailants were about removing some vital parts but maybe because others were approaching, they quickly abandoned it and took to their heels. We suspect a case of ritual killing,” the source said, adding that the corpse of the victim has since been deposited at the mortuary, General Hospital, Otu-Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South local government area.
