…..Rehabilitates All Bad Roads Linking Wife’s New School
In spite of his deceptive regular public outcry of financial hardship been faced by his administration, governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has allegedly used tax payers money running into several millions of naira to erect a huge private school for his wife in Asaba, the state capital, HardReporters can authoritatively report.
According to investigation carried out by HardReporters team of investigators, the school, named “Royal Mira All Saints International School” belonged to Mrs. Edit Okowa, wife of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, located at Osozuka street off DLA road, behind Zappa catholic church, Umuagu quarters, Asaba and been operated by the governor’s front, in the person of one Mr. Moses Iduh, Delta North Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairman.
The school which operates, Creche, Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Primary and Secondary has well equipped state of the arts science, economic and computer laboratories, sick bay, library, school bus shuttle, 2, 000-seater auditorium/hall, ventilated and spacious classrooms, a music room, uninterrupted power supply among other facilities.
The school which was commissioned by Governor Okowa on 23, February, 2017, HardReporters reliably learnt is been funded from the state treasury.
Disguised visit by our correspondents to the school as parents seeking for admission for their children revealed that the school was owned by the state first lady, Mrs. Edith Okowa.
Speaking in confidence to our visiting correspondents, a female staffer of the school who initially denied that the school was owned by the governor’s wife made a U-turn to revealed that “Actually, the school belonged to the governor’s wife but decided to use Mr. Moses Iduh as the president and CEO of the school. Initially when we were employed, we were made to believe that the school actually belonged to Mr. Iduh but independent investigations carried out showed that we were been deceived. It was then we found out that the school is actually owned by the first lady.”
According to the staff, the school receives monthly subventions from the state government like every other government institutions in the state, stressing that “All the staff here have been seriously warned against joining people crediting the school to the first lady. Any staff found to do be doing that will face sack immediately.”
On arrival at the school premises, one of our correspondents confronted one of the gatemen on duty with the question of who owns the school, but the gateman who after smiling for several minutes said, he doesn’t know but was recently told that its owned by governo Okowa’s wife adding that though has not confirmed.
Another staff of the school who pleaded for anonymity confided in our team of correspondents that “With the way the school sprang up, coupled with state of the arts facilities and other things you don’t need a prophet to tell you that the school is owned by governor Okowa’s wife. You can see too that all the bad roads leading to the school has been rehabilitated by governor Okowa. Before now all the roads in those areas were no go but since the commission of his wife’s school, all the roads are now passable and motorable for parents taking their children to the school. Though the rehabilitation was poorly done.”
A senior staff of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary education, Asaba also confirmed that the school is owned by the governor’s wife, Mrs. Edith Okowa.
“We handles everything concerning schools in the state whether private or government owned schools. So I can tell you that Royal Mira All Saints International School, is owned by Mrs. Okowa but been run by their cronies.” the staff disclosed.
Commenting on the controversial school, a staunch member of PDP in Delta North, told a correspondent of this medium that anyone still believing that the edifice is owned by the Delta North PDP chairman, Mr. Moses Iduh, need to wake up from his or her slumber as according to the source, “Moses we all know does not have what it takes to build such an edifice. We all know ourselves. I repeat, Moses does not have what it takes to establish such business running I to several millions of naira. We ate all aware that the school is owned by governor Okowa’s wife, Mrs. Edith Okowa.”
As at the time of going to press, all efforts to contact the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu were unfruitful as his mobile line could not be reached.
