Delta State government has expressed satisfaction and hailed the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Friday Ovoke Warri over his delivery of impactful projects in the council since resumption of office as chairman.
Giving the commendation on behalf of the State government during inspection of completed and ongoing in the area on Monday, the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Kelly Kalanama Penawo expressed satisfaction with the grassroots-based projects executed by the Isoko South chairman.
While expressing satisfaction at the level of works done in the local government area, Penawou emphasized the importance of youth empowerment as part of human capital development.
The commissioner, who was on his projects inspection for the second time to the local government, stated that he observed the projects that were ongoing during his first visit are now completed, with new ones already underway.
Penawo however, urged the council chairman to maintain the pace to complement the governor’s efforts of Renewed Hope For More Agenda at the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Isoko South council chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri Ovoke Friday, expressed gratitude to Delta State and the commissioner and his team for making time to inspect some of the executed projects, as well as the ongoing ones.
The chairman revealed that all the projects executed were undertaken based on the requests of the benefitting communities, which span across the political wards of the council.
Warri specifically commended the commissioner for his sage counsel over time, noting that he has been playing a fatherly role.
The council chairman also expressed his gratitude to the executive governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for prioritizing the interests of Deltans, particularly with regard to key projects executed in Isoko land, but however requested for more like the Oliver the twist.
“On behalf of the people, I want to appealed to the governor, through the honorable commissioner, to dualize the Oleh-Olomoro road down to Iyede, linking the Ughelli-Asaba expressway and I am very sure the governor would do it for us.”
Recalled that the Isoko South Local Government Council, as part of its one-year-in-office initiative, empowered market women and business owners with cash gifts to boost their various businesses.
Sites visited include the rehabilitated Ogbemudia road with drainage systems, failed portion of Oyede-Irri road, section of Emede internal road rehabilitated by the council, and the ongoing rehabilitation of the bad spot from Oleh down to Iyede, which spans across Oleh, Emede, and Olomoro and down to the Iyede end of the Isoko South boundary. Others include the new Isoko South council gatehouse and perimeter fence, rehabilitation of the HPM quarters, remodeled chairman’s quarters, secretary to the local government quarters, and the ongoing construction of a new, ultra-modern administrative secretariat.
