In the political landscape of Isoko North Local Government Area, the name Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba resonates deeply with the people. To many, he is not just a council chairman; he is a builder of dreams, a man whose hands-on leadership style embodies the very essence of grassroots governance.

His tenure has become a model of development-driven leadership, firmly anchored on the principles of the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State.
Since assuming office as Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Ogorugba has demonstrated uncommon commitment to ensuring that the governor’s developmental philosophy finds full expression in every community across the 13 federal wards of the local government. His approach to governance has been people-centered, transparent, and deeply rooted in his belief that true leadership begins with service to the grassroots.

Ogorugba’s political journey is one of resilience and dedication. From his early days as a youth leader, to serving as a legislative aide to the former Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor Okuweh and later as a local government party chairman, he has built a reputation as a mobilizer with deep understanding of the political terrain. Now, as Executive Chairman, he brings years of experience and political maturity to bear in steering the affairs of Isoko North toward sustainable growth and development.

What makes Ogorugba stand out is not just his experience, but his results. His administration has delivered tangible projects that have improved lives and transformed communities. From infrastructure to education, healthcare to empowerment, his footprints can be seen across Isoko North.

The newly constructed Isoko North administrative complex stands as a symbol of his commitment to institutional growth, rehabilitation of internal roads within the secretariat, while the staff clinic and perimeter fencing of the council secretariat reflect his emphasis on welfare and security.

Ongoing projects, such as the construction of management staff quarters and construction of primary health center and nursing quarters Oghara-Iyede, further highlight his attention to the wellbeing of workers and efficiency in governance.

In the area of education, Hon. Ogorugba has placed strong emphasis on early learning and child development. Through the distribution of notebooks and writing materials to pupils in all 43 public primary schools, and the sponsorship of primary six pupils’ enrollment, he has reaffirmed his belief that education remains the greatest investment for the future. His administration has also taken deliberate steps to empower the youth with laptops and cash support across the 13 wards, helping them acquire digital skills and entrepreneurial opportunities in today’s technology-driven world.

Beyond the council headquarters, the transformation continues across rural communities. In Imo Primary School, Iyede, a new block of three classrooms with toilets and water facilities has been completed, while several community markets in Ofagbe, Otor-Owhe, Aradhe, and Owhelogbo have been renovated and reconstructed with new lockup and open stores. These projects have rejuvenated local commerce, giving traders, especially women, a cleaner and safer environment to conduct business.

The healthcare and water sectors have also received significant attention. The rehabilitation of water supply schemes in Oghara-Iyede and Otor-Igho communities has restored clean water access to hundreds of households, while the construction of a primary health center and nurses’ quarters at Oghara-Iyede ensures that healthcare services are brought closer to the people. Similarly, the reconstruction of the Otor-Igho community town hall and nurses’ quarters reflects Ogorugba’s inclusive approach to community development.
Road infrastructure, often a major challenge in local communities, has not been left unattended. Under his leadership, several roads such as the Etevie Community Road in Ozoro, Otor-Iyede Road, and major connecting routes like Otor-Owhe–Owhelogbo Road, Ozoro–Owhelogbo Road and Maternity Road, Emevor, have been rehabilitated with asphalt, improving transportation and boosting local trade. The installation of 65 solar-powered street lights at the council secretariat further symbolizes his drive for modernization and safety.

Hon. Ogorugba’s developmental philosophy is closely tied to his loyalty and support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration. He has often emphasized that the governor’s achievements under the MORE Agenda — focused on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, must be felt at the grassroots level. His alignment with the governor’s vision is not only strategic but also deeply personal. In his words, “There is no vacancy in Osadebay House; the governor’s re-election is not negotiable. Our governor has done very well and will continue to do more for Deltans.”
He has equally expressed readiness to mobilize his political base in ensuring the re-election of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027, reflecting his firm belief in continuity for progress. Described by admirers as a man with Solomonic wisdom, Ogorugba’s political foresight and inclusive governance style have made him a bridge-builder among leaders and followers alike.

Today, Isoko North stands as a shining example of effective local governance, a result of purposeful leadership and prudent resource management. The legacy of Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba continues to inspire confidence among the people, proving that with vision, accountability, and empathy, local government administration can indeed bring development closer to the people. His story is that of a true champion of grassroots politics, a leader whose works speak louder than words, and whose impact will endure long after his tenure.
