The chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has admonished corps members posted to the local government to serve as exemplary representatives of their respective institutions and be ambassadors of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and make a positive impact during their service year.

Warri gave the admonition Wednesday at his office in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South, when the inspection team of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from South South, which has responsibilities to supervise Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa, visited the local government area to check on the welfare of corps members in Oleh.

Warri urged the corps members to embrace diversity and also foster inclusivity in their respective places of primary assignments, as the council will continue to provide all necessary assistance to make their stay homely.

“Be good ambassadors of NYSC and your various institutions; for us here, we will continue to collaborate with the NYSC. As a former corp member, I received certain stipends; I can assure you we would not deny you any.

“I wish to encourage you all to capitalise on the opportunities that will arise during this service year in the local government. Let your service be guided by integrity, honesty, and genuine desires to uplift those around you. That alone speaks volumes,” Warri said.

Earlier, the inspection team leader, Charles Anene, who led the delegation, stated that they are responsible for monitoring corps members to evaluate their performance, identify areas requiring improvement, and determine other areas where action can be taken.

Anene further appealed to the council boss to continue his good service to them as his own children adding “They are people’s children; we take care of them just as you are doing. We are here to appreciate your kind gesture.”

Meanwhile, the council chairman has promised to intervene on the corp members’ current administrative building within the council secretariat.
