The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has officially flagged off the distribution of free notebooks and other writing materials to pupils in 43 public primary schools across the council area.

The flag-off ceremony, which was held on Thursday at the council secretariat in Ozoro, marked another intervention by the local government administration aimed at supporting pupils and enhancing teaching and learning in public primary schools across Isoko North.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ogorugba urged the pupils to make judicious use of the learning materials provided to them, stressing that education remains a critical foundation for personal development and the future progress of society.

The council chairman admonished the pupils to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and listen attentively to their teachers, noting that the provision of free learning materials was intended to encourage them to focus on their education without allowing a lack of basic educational materials to hinder their academic pursuits.

According to him, the local government would continue to support initiatives that would improve the educational environment and provide children with the opportunity to develop their talents and realise their full potential.

Ogorugba said, “I want to sincerely encourage all of you, our dear pupils, to make very good use of these books and other learning materials that have been provided for you. Do not see them as ordinary gifts; see them as tools that will help you build your future. You must take your studies very seriously because education is the foundation upon which you can build a successful and meaningful life. Listen to your teachers, respect your parents and guardians, obey your elders and remain disciplined both in school and at home.

“Our desire is to see every one of you grow into responsible and successful citizens who will contribute positively to the development of Isoko North, Delta State, Nigeria and humanity at large. Among you are future professors, doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, scientists, administrators and leaders. We believe that with the right encouragement, proper education and determination, you can become whatever you aspire to be in life. Do not allow your present circumstances to limit your dreams. Dream big, work hard and always remember that success requires commitment, discipline and perseverance.

“I also pray that any of the pupils who will use these books and learning materials will continue to excel in their studies. May God grant you wisdom, knowledge, understanding and good health. May He give you the strength and courage to become whatever and whoever you desire to be in life. May those who will use these materials become professors, doctors, engineers, lawyers and professionals in different fields. None of you shall fall by the wayside. May God protect you, guide you and give you the opportunity to fulfil your dreams and aspirations.

“As a council administration, we will continue to do our best within the available resources to support our schools and our children because they are the future of our communities. We want to see a generation of well-educated, responsible and productive young people who will make Isoko North proud.”

The chairman subsequently urged teachers and school authorities to ensure that the learning materials reached the intended beneficiaries and were used strictly for their educational purposes.
