Irate youths from Ossissa community, Ndokwa East local government area of Delta state were said to have pelted governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s convoy with stones. It was gathered that the governor had on Monday visited the area to hold talks with the people over recent killing in the community by Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that the indigenes who were not happy over the governor’s inability to tackle the issues once and for all, openly expressed their grievances and disappointment to Okowa during his Monday visit to the area.

HardReporters reliably learnt that shortly after the talks as the governor was leaving, the community youths carried stones and pelted his convoy and in the process some vehicles were allegedly damaged but could not be verified independently as at the time of filing in this report.

“We are very angry with governor Okowa, he is too weak for a governor and under his eyes all our people have been killed by this fulani herdsmen without him taking any action. We he came we just decided that we must stone him while leaving and that was exactly what the youths of Ossissa did to him.” an Ossissa youth confessed to our correspondent.

Meanwhile, confirming the attack on governor Okowa’s convoy, newly appointed Executive Assistant on Communication to the governor, Mr. Latimore Fred Oghenesivbe said in a statement that “The Ossissa scenario was organised by the opposition party to discredit the Okowa administration on security issues. The APC is dead in Delta and its leaders are groaning in acute pains and hopelessness. It has nothing to do with the popularity profile of Gov Okowa.”

It would be recalled that pandemonium and protest broke out last week Friday following the alleged beheading of a commercial motorcycle rider identified as Udoka Ossai and killing of six indigenes of Ossissa community, in Ndokwa East Local government area of Delta State by fulani herdsmen.

The Friday protest which was championed by Ossissa youths, armed with dangerous weapons barricaded the Asaba-Kwale-Ughelli expressway with threats to revenge the incessant killing of their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and relations by the fulani herdsmen in the area, and accused governor Okowa of folding his arms while the herdsmen slaughter Deltans like cows.
