As Deltans continue to ponder over the circumstances that may have led to the unceremonious redeployment of Mr. Dan Okenyi from the lucrative Lands, Survey and Urban Development ministry to a sleeping Directorate of Arts, Culture and Tourism, facts have emerged that “Corrupt”, Okenyi, was redeployed following alleged forgery of governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s signature and his involvement in land racketeering.

It would be recalled that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had last week Wednesday carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle where commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Mr. Dan Okenyi was moved to Arts, Culture and Tourism while Mr. Ernest Ogwezzy formerly of Arts, Culture and Tourism was moved to Special Duties and Mr. Chuks Ossai formerly of Special Duties moved to Lands, Survey and Urban Development ministry.

A credible source in the Lands, Survey and Urban Development ministry, who confided in HardReporters under the condition of anonymity, revealed that Okenyi was on rampage selling and reselling government and individual allocated lands as well as forging the governor’s signature to back up his criminal and nefarious activities.

“Governor Okowa was seriously warned against appointing Dan Okenyi into such offices but he wouldn’t listen. We have not forgotten how the same Okenyi was sacked as clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly by late speaker Daniel Igbrude of blessed memory. Okenyi forged Igbrude’s signature to carry out some nefarious activities as well as defrauding staff until he was caught and sacked.

“We all know the nefarious antecedents of Okenyi, one of the known corrupt man ever created on earth. Barely two years in office, Okenyi has defrauded the state government and innocent individuals of millions of naira through his dubious sales and resale of lands without permission from the state government.” the source said.

Another impeccable government house source disclosed that what got the camel back broken that resulted to Okenyi’s unceremonious redeployment was that he allegedly stole and resold a plot of land in Asaba, legitimately owned by the Delta State House of Assembly member representing Warri South-West constituency, Mr. Daniel Mayuku.

According to the source, Okenyi also resold another plot of land in Asaba belonging to Mrs. Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, a Deltan born Olympic and World Championships medalist in the long jump, world medallist in the 200 metres, track and field athlete who specializes in long jumping and short sprints.

“After sales and resale of lands, Okenyi will forge the governor’s signature and issue and reissued Certificates of Occupancy (C o C) to his clients and this was later brought to the open and before the governor. This infuriated the governor to the point of almost dropping him totally from his cabinet but was appealed to, to temper justice with mercy and the governor has no option than to redeploy him to the almost dead and sleeping Directorate of Arts, Culture and Tourism.” our source said.

Several calls put to Mr. Dan Okenyi’s mobile line (08033418117) were rebuffed not even a text that was sent to him was responded to but multiple sources at the Lands, Survey and Urban Development ministry confirmed to our correspondent his land racketeering business and other nefarious activities of their former boss and thanked God for hearing their prayers by removing him from the Ministry.
