HardReporters can authoritatively report that the former Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has formally resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
The former staunch member of the PDP, it was learnt resigned his membership from the party this afternoon.
According to our impeccable source, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo announced his resignation from the PDP when he met with the executive and members of Ithihikpebe Campaign Organisations, to officially inform them of his intention to run for the Isoko federal house of representatives.
“Hon. Joel-Onowakpo also met with the executive of the People Democratic Party Emede Ward 05 and resigned hi membership of the party. He told the party that he has taken this step after consultation with his family, friends, business and political associates.
“That this step is for the interest of the entire Isoko people viz-a-viz his personal interest and in line with his ideology and philosophy which is firmly rooted on justice and fair play and that in few days he will unveil his new party.” our source said.
Mr. Joel-Onowakpo, who hails from Emede, Isoko South local government area of Delta state is the current Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), coordinator in charge of Delta, Edo and Rivers states.
Mr. Joel-Onowakpo, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, with a Masters degree in Management, an astute politician, is gunning for the House of Representatives in the green chamber to represent the people of Isoko Federal constituency come 2019.
Mr. Joel-Onowakpo, is a seasoned professional and technocrat of high standing who have risen over the years into a renown entrepreneur with interest spanning in areas of telecommunications, technology, mining, hotels, financing, leasing, tax administration and consultancy amongst others.
As a member of the PDP, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo, had singlehandedly financed the party campaigns and all its elections to victory for the past ten years.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing in this report, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo, has not indicated the new political party he intend to run.
