A notorious political thug identified as Oghenero Akpoboma, aka (Ewele), alleged to be one of the loyal boys usually used by member of the House of Representatives, representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the green chambers and Minority Leader, Mr. Leo Okuweh Ogor, for political thuggery during elections, has been killed by police in Delta state.
Police sources who confided in HardReporters crime correspondent, said “Ewele” was killed Monday over an alleged kidnap related cases linked to him. “He was gunned down in a bid to escape from been arrested in Oyede community, Isoko North council area of Delta state. He was shot on the leg, he wanted to play smart.” our source said.
HardReporters reliably learnt that, Ewele died on the way while been taken to Police Headquarters, Asaba, following severe bleeding.
“Ewele, has been on our watch list for over three years now. His criminal antecedents came to limelight during the Irri crisis where he was for the main actor in the crisis and then President of Irri, Mr. Josiah Uturu. Information available to us shows also that after the Irri crisis he was said to be recruited as a political thug working for the member representing Isoko Federal Constituency, House of Representatives who is also the Minority Leader, Mr. Leo Okuweh Ogor to fight against his opponents during elections.”. police sources said.
All efforts to contact, the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr. Andrew Aniamaka as at the time of filing in this report were not successful as calls to his mobile phone were not answered.
