Miss Precious Moses, eight year old girl, with a mountainous tumor on her head, has cried out to governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state and the general public to assist her with the sum of six hundred thousand naira to enable her undergo surgical operation.
Speaking during a visit to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, Mother of Precious, Mrs. Juliet Ekeh said the tumor at the back of her daughter started like a small boil which was treated, only for it to start growing abnormally and gradually spreading to other parts of her body.
Mrs. Ekeh said she has spent the little she had financially just as she begged the Delta State Government to help save the life of her daughter by assisting financially to enable doctors carry out a surgery and remove the tumor on her.
Mrs. Ekeh, who is a resident of Orhunwhorhun in Udu Local Government Area of the state, also begged good spirited Nigerians to help donate fresh blood for the successful tumor operation of her daughter.
Meanwhile, a group under the auspices of Child Welfare Fund on Tuesday, sent a “Save Our Soul” message to the Delta State Government and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of Miss Precious Moses by donating the sum of six hundred thousand naira needed to carry out the surgical operation to remove the tumor on her head.
The group moved by pathetic health condition of Miss Precious, also called for fourteen volunteers that would donate fresh blood on the day of the operation as recommended by a team of surgeons waiting for her family to raise the needed fund for the operation.
The President of the group, Mr. Joshua Omorere, who made the appeal at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, stated that the SOS call was the last resort to save little Precious from dying as the turmor is already weighing her down.
Omorere stated that the girl’s health deteriorated to the level due to poverty, stressing that her parents could not afford the estimated one million six hundred thousand naira medical bills given o them by the Delta State University Teaching Hospital,DELSUTH, Otefe-Oghara.
He explained that Precious bill for the operation was out at a total sum of one million six hundred thousand but that his organization has been able to raise the sum of one million naira, adding that effort to raise the balance six hundred thousand naira pushed him to call on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration and Deltans and the general public to help Precious.
According to Mr. Omorere, Miss Precious who is presently lying helplessly at the Pediatric Ward 2, Bed 2 at the Delta State Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, usually teach her mates but stopped going to school because she was being mocked and stigmatized by her classmates.
“I am begging the Delta State Government to save this young girl from dying. The Government should help us raise this money so that her parents can pay for her medical bills. We are also looking for 14 people to donate fresh blood on the day of the tumor operation. Please Nigerians, help this young girl.”
