The immediate past governor of Delta State and , Mr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has emphatically made it clear that his vying for the Delta South senatorial district seat in the national Assembly, was not sleep in the red chamber but to deliver quality representation to his people.

The Delta South Senatorial All Progressives Congress, (APC), aspirant, made this known on Thursday when he paid a consultation visit to APC members of Isoko nation at Olomoro, Isoko South local government area of the state, ahead of the party’s primaries.

Uduaghan who urged the Isoko leaders and delegates to support his senatorial ambition during the primaries, stressed that “I know what I am going to the Senate to do but if you don’t know, I am not going there to sleep. I am going to the Senate to give quality representation to Delta South. I’m not just going there to bear the name but to speak and negotiate for my people.”

According to Uduaghan, “There are some laws that have to be put in place for the oil companies operating in our communities. It is not good to bring security consultant from Lagos, Kaduna, Sokoto and other places when our people can do it. Then, our boys will be employed as security guards and paid peanuts. That must stop.”

Former governor Uduaghan insisted that, companies coming to buy shares in the oil companies, the host communities must own five per cent of those companies, which is one of the laws he said he is proposing to initiate for his people.

On the yet to be abated leadership crisis tearing apart the soul of the party in the state, Uduaghan disclosed that he has been able to intervened with the initiation of reconciliation among the party leaders, saying all factions in the party must come together for reconciliation so that the party can be victorious in the forthcoming 2019 coming elections.

Uduaghan said since his defection to the party, he has made concerted effort aimed at assisting the party from its current leadership crisis, adding that, “Delta State APC has challenges and we have been trying to resolve them because if we are not united, it will be hard to win elections. It is only a united party that wins elections. No party wins elections amidst crisis. Sometimes, I feel very embarrassed when I see our (APC) leaders abusing themselves on the pages of newspapers.”

“It is very bad and it must stop. We (APC) are in the opposition in Delta State and we should not be opposing ourselves. Our efforts should be toward the take-over of government. We want to wrest power from the PDP in the state. We should stop chasing the ant when there is elephant for us to eat. If we work to win the state and federal elections, it is better. We should work hard to win all elections.”, Uduaghan opined.

Speaking, on behalf of the people, a former member of the state house of Assembly, and APC leader in Isoko, Mr. Lucky Okperi, said that Uduaghan’s victory in the primaries is sure, and tasked all members of the party to work towards the party’s victory at the main election.

Also speaking, the APC house of representatives aspirant for the Isoko federal constituency, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas said “I am here to build on my past legacies of speedier development for Delta State and now more directly to my own people of Isoko nation who deserves a better deal. That’s exactly my motivation. I see better days ahead as your next representative by God’s grace.”

Speaking in the same vein, Isoko North APC chieftain, Mr. Williams Omoviro said “Uduaghan remains one of the most Isoko friendly Governor we’ve had, just like his predecessor in office, Chief James Ibori. We Isoko owe them a debt of gratitude and that will be demonstrated by voting enmass for Uduaghan as our next Senator.”
