Vanguard for Transparent Leadership and Democracy (VATLAD), has thrown its weight behind Delta state governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s cancellation of some projects initiated by former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration.
Reacting to the exclusive interview granted to PUNCH newspapers last weekend by governor Okowa, entitled “Stopping Uduaghan’s Projects Is In Public Interest”, the National President of VATLAD, Emmanuel Odafe Igbini in a statement titled “Governor Okowa Vs Former Governor Uduaghan”, issued and made available to newsmen, gave the governor Okowa a pact on the back.
“I ‘ve been inundated with calls for my reaction to this story. I’ve carefully read the interview and what governor Okowa said regarding his decision to stop those projects. From benefit of hindsight and information governor Okowa gave, I totally agree with him to stop or even outrightly cancel some of them for the overriding interest of Deltans. Some more Projects need to be cancelled while others need total review.”
Mr. Igbini while saying former governor Uduaghan does not believed in some of the projects his administration embarked on then stressed that “I know as a fact even former governor Uduaghan didn’t also believe in some of these projects but political pressure may have forced him to go against his will.”
The Niger Delta social crusader, however called on governor Okowa to also stop or cancel some of his ongoing projects, “In the same vein, some ongoing projects by Okowa must be stopped or cancelled.” Igbini stated.
