Delta State governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the member representing Warri North constituency in the state House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Diden, popularly known as (Ejele) were on Tuesday exposed by some “used and dumped” Delta Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths under the umbrella of Delta Political Vanguard, on how they were allegedly used by the two politicians to rig the 2015 general elections.
HardReporters reliably gathered that, Delta Political Vanguard, comprising 18 groups, protested to the government house, Asaba, blocked the gate and informed the world how the state governor, Okowa and the state lawmaker, Diden, (alias Ejele) have abandoned them after using them to carry out electoral malpractices in their various units across the Delta Central senatorial District during the 2015 general elections.
The leader of the protesters who gave his name as Mr. Monday Edemivwaiye, said they decided to come out and let the World know how the governor and the lawmaker have used and dumped them after assuring to rig the 2015 general elections in their favour. The leader stated that all the promises from Okowa and the lawmaker were nowhere to be found, yet the governor is reeling out thousands of appointments to those who were nowhere to be found during the elections.
All efforts by security men at the government house gate to pacify the protesters failed as they insisted that unless the governor come out to address and tell them why he has refused to fulfill his own part of the agreement reached during the election.
The groups disclosed that classified information at their disposal shows that everyday, Okowa issued appointment letters to people across the state but has decided to ignore them.
“Recently, we were with the former governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori at Oghara, to identify with him and he declared that Okowa should be allowed to come back in 2019, he wrote us a letter to give our support to Okowa and now the man is here live, let us go and see him and the man congratulated us for our massive
support for Okowa.
“We will not leave even if it means killing us here, we will remain here till Okowa and Ejele come here to address us. We are here today to see His Excellency to tell us where we belong and what wrong we have done him that he has refused to settle us according to his promises to us.” one of the protesters said.
A government house source confided in HardReporters, that governor Okowa who is on an official visit to Benin to join the Edo state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to receive the corpse of the former governor of the defunct Bendel state, General Samuel Ogbemudia (Rtd), at the Benin Airport, has been briefed about the protest.
It was gathered that when the protest was getting hotter at the government house gate, men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force started to resist the protesters which led to a serious clashed, but this did not deterred the group as they persisted to register their presence in government house.
Mr. Patrick Ukah who came forth to address the protesters was rejected that he is not capable to address them. “See who they sent to address us. Someone who has not even eaten. What does he have? Someone who uses ATM to make withdrawals from the bank.” an angry protester stated.
It took the strong intervention of the security men, for the protesters to accept and allowed the information commissioner to address them, and Ukah asked for the names of the leaders to enable him arrange for a meeting between them and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Ovie Festus Agas tomorrow, but this the protesters vehemently rejected saying Agas is not a man to be trusted following his well known deceptive antecedents.
“Agas is a double edged sword man
who says a word and does another, Agas is just a signboard. What does he do in the government.” they asked Ukah.
