Decomposed body of the kidnapped Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of ‘C’ Division, Asaba, (bridge head), Delta State, SP Valentine Mbalu, has been found in the bush.
The DPO was kidnapped last week along the Agbor-Benin-Asaba expressway while returning to Asaba, capital city of Delta state.
HardReporters reliably learnt that the decomposed body of the kidnapped Divisional Police Officer, DPO, was found in a bush in Umunede close to Agbor.
A reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity, told HardReporters that the decomposed corpse of the DPO was found in Umunede bush on Friday, adding that one of the suspected kidnappers, a Fulani who sells water Mellon at Abraka within the Asaba metropolis has been arrested.
HardReporters recalled that the decomposed body of the king of Ubulu-Uku, HRM Edward Akaeze Ofulue III who was kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen sometime early last year was also found in Umunede bush days after his kidnap.
Before this current development, HardReporters learnt that the Fulani herdsmen who kidnapped the DPO had earlier established a contact with the family demanding for a N20 million ransom and cut it down to N5 million.
Meanwhile the Delta state police command has given two conflicting reports to the press, first when contacted, the commissioner of police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, denied the discovery of the decomposed body of the DPO while on his part the state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said he was not aware but admitted that some persons have been arrested in connection to the kidnap of the police officer.
