Delta North Council of Traditional rulers shunned Idumuje Ugboko’s Prince Nonso Nwoko who appeared at its meeting in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North local government head quarters of Delta state, dressed fully in king regalia.

This came in the wake of arraignment of his counsel and immediate younger brother, Mr. Mbanefo Nwoko, in court in Asaba, charged with perjury and forgery.

A senior member of the council who disclosed this to our HardReporters correspondent said “The traditional rulers were embarrassed because no invitation was extended to Prince Nonso Nwoko, to attend the meeting of traditional rulers in Aniocha North when he is not a member, his appearance in full regalia of a king when he is yet to be crowned shows lack of respect for the institution because he has not satisfied the traditional due process of admitting members. Secondly, he appeared in full regalia of a monarch when it is not to the knowledge of members that he has been coronated as the king of Idumuje Ugboko.”

It was gathered that the royal fathers felt humiliated that he came to the meeting with drinks, kola nuts and the sum of N500,000 to wedge the kola nuts but was politely asked to leave the conference chambers of the local government, venue of the meeting with the items he brought to enable the Royal fathers continue with their deliberations.

It was also learnt that Prince Nonso’s letter applying to Aniocha north local government for staff of office was turned down last week on grounds that it was not signed by the Iyase of Idumuje Ugboko.

A senior member the royal family in Idumuje Ugboko, who confided in our correspondent said  “With the arraignment of the counsel to Prince Nonso Nwoko on charges of perjury and forgery, the palace is at the moment facing integrity challenge because every document emanating from the kingdom would be viewed with due caution. It was extreme recklessness on the part of Mr. Mbanefo Nwoko to forge a medical report to defend a matter that involved forgery,, what do you expect the judge handling such a case to do?”

Meanwhile, members of the Human rights commission from Abuja arrived in Asaba Thursday enroute to Idumuje Ugboko to investigate alleged violations of human rights in the town.

The team is expected to probe incidents of rape, torture, murder and arson that swept through the town on May 24, this year and will be meeting with the principal actors and victims in the conflict as well as meeting with leaders of Anioma Congress, mediating in the kingship tussle in the kingdom.

  1. Foooools! As usual you have written lies again. Nedu Idai, you will never have peace in your life.
We know you have no regards for anyone but yourself. If you could kill your 23 years old son because of political power, what else can you not do. Keep writing! Your end will be very miserable. That’s a promise.
