Crisis is currently said to be looming in Isoko nation following the inauguration of a parallel leadership of the Isoko Nation Youth Congress (INYC) by the Isoko South and North local government areas chapters of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Delta state, HardReporters has learnt.
It would be recalled that, a new executive for the Isoko youths under the umbrella of Isoko National Youth Assembly, (INYA), with one Ovie Umuakpo as President was inaugurated in August, 20th, 2017, at the Oleh Civic center, headquarters of Isoko South local government area.
However, the emergence of Umuakpo was said to be financially sponsored by the member representing Isoko federal constituency and minority leader of the house of representatives, Mr. Leo Ogor and a section of the leadership of the Isoko South and North local government Peoples Democratic Parry, (PDP), which did not go down well with the APC members of both local government areas.
Against this backdrop, HardReporters reliably gathered that the commissioner representing Delta state in the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Ogaga Ifowodo and other members of the APC in both local government councils came together to selected some youths to make up the executive of the new parallel Isoko Nation Youth Congress (INYC).
Inaugurating the parallel Isoko youth executive, Saturday in Isoko, an ally of Mr. Ifowodo and former secretary general Isoko Development Union (IDU) who also doubled as chairman board of trustees (INYC), Julius Mallam-Obi, aka ‘Gorilla President’ noted that Isoko youths have been for long short changed in the area of empowerment, “Because they have been playing a fiddle of entrusting themselves to relegated background which have denied them dividends of what is due to them.”
Mr. Mallam-Obi, charged the newly inaugurated parallel president of (INYC), Maclins Isheri to put the agitation of Isoko forward charismatically, and should not fail to liaise with other Isoko youth bodies by creating a synergy in areas deemed necessary for the betterment of Isoko youths worldwide.
Also speaking, a one time President of the defunct Isoko National Youth Movement (INYM), Joram Utukpe tasked Mr. Isheri and his executives to be pragmatic and diligent in the course of delivering the mandate of the youth body which is empowerment for Isoko youths and development of Isoko land in general.
Meanwhile, our correspondent reliably gathered that the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Askia Ogieh, and the former Assembly representative of Isoko South constituency 1, Ross Uredi have vowed to continued to back the ousted president of the Isoko National Youth Assembly (INYA), Victor Egbo, aka (Last Mugu), who is also an aide on youth development to governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
