Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba has urged the State Chief Inspector of Education to carry out thorough investigations before granting operational  accreditation/approvals to private schools owners.

Ogorugba who stated tmade this Monday while addressing members of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) Isoko North chapter led by Okpowe Sunday, said that governor Sheriff Oborevwori, was doing excellently in the area of education most especially the basic public primary schools across the state, through prompt payment of teachers’ salaries, promotions arrears, pensions, and construction/renovation of classroom blocks, provision of desks among others.

“Delta State is among the States that has the best public primary schools for pupils in Nigeria, our primary schools has quality and conducive infrastructures, our teachers are highly qualified and certified to give our children the best basic education knowledge in brightening their future for greater accomplishments in life. I want to encourage all parents and guardians in Isoko North and across Delta State to send their children to public primary schools to acquire a solid basic educational foundation that will brighten their future tomorrow.”

The council chairman, however decried the geometry increase in the number of private schools across the State most especially in Isoko North, describing it as alarming, adding that in a situation where almost every street, there is private school even in an uncompleted building and batcher-houses, yet our parents and guardians are paying atrocious school fees that will end up in giving their ward half baked educational foundation knowledge.

“If you visit all the public primary schools across the state the least teacher you can see is the holder of Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE), while others have BSC (Ed) Msc (Ed) and even PhD,  but in most private schools they engage the services of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) holders and few with degrees are not specialized in education hence the Chief Inspector of Education must seat up with their responsibilities to minimize the rate of educational decay.

“It is the duty of the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) to ensure high educational standards and improve teaching and learning across the State not just sitting in the office and granting approvals for all private schools’ applications without proper assessments which is affecting the returns of registration and enrollment into our public primary schools today.” Ogorugba warned.

Ogorugba appreciated all the head teachers and primary school teachers for their diligence and dedication to duties in ensuring the pupils get the best basic education foundation which is the master key to educational pursuit in life.

According to the council chairman, his administration is following the footsteps of “our father, the working governor, the MORE Agenda Governor and the Ukodo of the Universe, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in the area of infrastructure and Education, my administration has constructed a block of three class rooms and four toilets and water supply scheme at Oteri-Iyede primary school, free distribution of notebooks, bags, sandals and other writing materials to all the pupils in the 43 public primary schools in Isoko North, payment of enrollment for primary six pupils examination, printing of terminal examination questions papers, and prompt payment of primary school teachers salaries, announcing that in few weeks, he will commence the distributions of chairs, tables, white board and markers to all classes in the 43 public primary school in the local government council.
