Constituents Pass Vote Of No Confidence On Delta Deputy Speaker, Osanebi, Over Fraudulent Amassing Of Wealth, Call Him ‘Chronic Corrupt Czar’

Constituents in Ndokwa East constituency of Delta state have passed a vote of no confidence on their representative and Delta state house of Assembly deputy speaker, Mr. Friday Ossai Osanebi, over what they termed “fraudulent amassing of wealth belong to the people. They called the deputy speaker, a “chronic corrupt czar” that has continued to impoverished the constituents while building the future of his children and the unborn.

Cross section of the constituents who spoke with HardReporters in Aboh, headquarters of Ndokwa East council and Asaba, the state capital, said the rate of corruption and fraudulent nature of the deputy speaker was becoming unbearable, saying a situation where the wealth that belong to everybody that is been amassed by one person through his office and intimidation call for strong condemnation.

A constituent who simply identified himself as Oke lamented that the deputy speaker has for the past years defrauded them, denied them of their rights and benefits and the time has come for the deputy speaker to vomit all the money accrued to them from the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), multinational oil companies and state government.

“Osanebi has not relented in cheating us, amassing the wealth to belong to all of us and the same time deceived us in the name of empowering us with our wealth after defrauding us of billions of naira. In 2015, the Deputy Speaker defrauded the youths of N1.4 billion and breached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into with an oil exploration company, Sterling Global Oil Service.

“The deputy speaker has continued to use his private companies to corner all contracts coming from DESOPADEC, state government and multinational oil companies to the detriment of pur people. We have not forgotten how Coalition of Ndokwa Youth Leaders protested against the Deputy Speaker for stealing N1.4 billion meant for youth development programs and his armed political thugs ambush and kidnap Journalists from Asaba who came to cover the protest.

“Since 2013, the sum of N20 million is accruing to the Ndokwa youths every month from the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission (DESOPADEC) but the deputy speaker till date has being pocketing the money meant for the youths. Osanebi is a chronic corrupt and fraudulent fellow. Osanebi is not fit to occupy the hallow office of the deputy speaker. Any attempt to challenge him, he will use the police and his armed political thugs to intimidate and arrest those challenging him.” Oke lamented.

Also speaking with HardReporters correspondent, another constituent who gave his name as Opone, plans are been intensified to drag the deputy speaker, Osanebi to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies especially the ICPC.

“Enough is enough, this is a deputy governor that will corner all contracts, job slots, empowerment programmes for Ndokwa youths by several oil firms operating in the area. Till date Osanebi has not stopped hijacking all the benefits due our people especially the youths. To disabuse the minds of the public, especially the outside World, he will use peanuts from our own looted money to organise empowerment and give it media hype to deceive the outside World.

“Enough of Osanebi gross misconduct to the youths, Osanebi should resign his position as a member and deputy speaker of the state Assembly. EFCC, ICPC are watching you Osanebi. We have no confidence in you any more Osanebi. Your case is before EFCC and ICPC already, you cannot escape this. If you like use money to bribe your way out but be rest assured we shall never relent.

“The people of Ndokwa East constituency have passed a vote of no confidence on Friday Osanebi. We have called on the state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and other relevant agencies and oil firms to stop relating or dealing with Osanebi on issues affecting Ndokwa nation and the youths in other to sustain the existing peace currently being enjoyed in the area. Osanebi is preparing and building the future of his children even the unborn while the future of ours is hopeless.” Opone stated.

Also speaking on the ‘corrupt and fraudulent’ antecedents of the deputy speaker, a constituent who simply mentioned his name as Comrade Kingsley, alleged that deputy speaker Osanebi defrauded oil bearing communities in the local government of over a billion naira been royalties and other entitlements accrued the communities.

“Currently, the Ndokwa East Cluster Communities (OB 3 Project) and LandLords of the Right-Of-Way Communities to the OB3 pipelines, are at war with the deputy speaker who has converted all our royalties both in cash, contracts and man power due us to himself and all efforts to have the deputy speaker make refund has failed and he resulted to intimidations and harassments.

“I can tell you authoritatively that in few days time we are dragging the deputy speaker before the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and other relevant anti-graft agencies in the country. The deputy speaker has for the past years defrauded us, denied us our rights and benefits.

“The time has come for the deputy speaker to vomit all the money accrued to us. In 2014, NESTOIL Limited was given a job by NNPC to construct a pipeline from Obligom in Rivers State through Delta to Obem in Edo state. The thing transverse through our lands, eight communities were affected in Ndokwa East. The landlords are supposed to get the contracts, the local content jobs.

“But, Friday Osanebi, who is not even a landlord in the right-of-way, because he is from Beneku and the pipeline did not passed through his community, collected all the jobs to the exclusion of all the landlords and that has been a problem because we are not happy. The first deal the deputy speaker did was the clearing which he does not mobilise anybody to do.

“Once he signs the contract, NESTOIL Limited does the work and gives him the sum of N15 million after signing of the contract and that money and other money are supposed to belong to us, but he will collect and pocket everything. I can authoritatively tell you that till date since 2014, Friday Osanebi, has used his company, Augoe and Sons, to defraud us of over a billion naira. We have all the break down and estimates.”

All efforts to contact the flamboyant deputy speaker, Friday Osanebi were not successful as calls to his mobile line were ignored as at the time of going to press but one of his aides who pleaded anonymity confirmed that some constituents have concluded plans to drag his boss to EFCC and ICPC over some corrupt related cases.
