Facts have emerged as to why the member representing representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Reuben Izeze, was suspended by the house for three weeks.
HardReporters Assembly correspondent reliably learnt that Mr. Izeze was suspended for revealing caucus information to the impeached former speaker of the house, Monday Igbuya.
“It is no longer a secret that Hon. Izeze is a die hard loyalist of Hon. Igbuya, has always been revealing whatever that we discussed in the caucus to his boss, the former speaker and the house has not been comfortable with this sell out attitude of Hon. Izeze and we decided to suspend him for three months.
“You know, the majority leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere was impeached along side Hon. Igbuya because he revealed the house impeachment plan to Igbuya.” one time principal officer of the house confided in our correspondent.
Mr. Izeze’s Wednesday suspension followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Tim Owhefere, during plenary that the behavior of Izeze was unbecoming of a lawmaker, and such attitude would do the Assembly’s image no good.
Mr. Owhefere therefore moved that the lawmaker should be suspended for three months to enable him learn more about legislation.
The motion was seconded by the Chief Whip of the House, Mrs. Pat Ajudua, representing Oshimili North Constituency.
The motion was unanimously adopted after it was put through a voice vote by the Speaker, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori.
“The member representing Ughelli South is hereby suspended for a period of three months for gross misconduct,’’ the Speaker said.
It would be recalled that Mr. Izeze was suspended by the Assembly in 2016 for alleged misconduct, making it the second time he has been suspended by the house.
