The yet to be abated leadership crisis rocking the Delta state All Progressives Congress, (APC), has taken a new dimension with leaders and elders of the party in Delta central senatorial district, pressurizing the leader of the party in the state and 2015 governorship candidate of the party, Mr. O’tega Emerhor to contest the senatorial seat come 2019 general elections.
The APC leaders and elders who paid a surprise visit to the APC leader at his Evwreni residence, Ughelli North local government area of the state to present to him a senatorial expression of interest form purchased for him to contest for the seat, expressed displeasure over what they called “Poor representation by the senator representing Delta Central in the national Assembly, Mr. Ovie Omo-Agege.
Mr. Sylvester Kowho, who led the leaders and elders of the Delta Central APC, to present the senatorial interest form to Emerhor, categorically said, Mr. Omo-Agege is a rascal and disgrace to the Urhobo nation, as such, can no longer represent the people at the red chambers come 2019.
“We are here to beg our leader, the state APC leader and the 2015 governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor to as a matter of urgency and importance join the senatorial race for a better representation. We came here to also surprise him with the presentation of a senatorial form we bought for him to join the race. Our current senator in the national Assembly has caused Urhobo nation a very big disgrace.
“He’s a rascal and disgrace to us. He is a failure. There is vacuum in the Delta Central Senatorial seat. The person we have there in the senate is an embarrassment to us. We have not forgotten in a hurry how he brought a global embarrassment to Urhobo nation when the maze of the national Assembly was stolen by some thugs alleged to be working for him. Urhobo nation can no longer bear him rather we have decided to change him with the state APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
“We want our Delta state APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor to takeover the Delta Central senatorial position. We are by this move appealing to our leader to join the race. In Emerhor we have more trust. We want him to go there to make a change for the Urhobo nation. We beg you Olorogun to accept our plea and we have taken the pain to buy you the senate form and we hereby present it to you. Please accept it.”
Responding, the APC leader and Delta state 2015 governorship candidate of the party, Mr. O’tega Emerhor, while thanking the Urhobo APC elders and leaders for the gesture, he promised to look into their plea and take action.
“I have heard you. I am from Delta Central and I am the leader of APC in Delta State. Delta Central is the heart beat of APC as you know; the representation Delta Central must represent, must be to the interest of Urhobo and Delta State. We have the current representation; but as the elders said, the present senator is not representing Urhobo nation well and he is not reflecting the culture of the Urhobo in Abuja. What we hear is rascality, thuggery.
“We don’t hear diplomacy, we don’t hear negotiation. He is even creating problems for President Muhammadu Buhari he claims to be supporting. But we will go there to represent urhobo to solve problems and work with Mr. President; and do things in a way that he (Buhari) can implement his agenda; that is what we will do. You people have come to ask me to run, you know it is a serious matter; I have heard you and I am going to consult my immediate family and my political advisers, because the form has a deadline.”
