Delta State Football Association (DFA), under the chairman of former Super Eagles Captain and playmaker, Mr. Austin Jay Jay Okocha is said to be currently in disarray following the way and manner the chairman is running the affairs of the once celebrated Association across the nation during the reign of former chairman of the Association and current President Nigeria Football Federation and CAF executive member, Mr.Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
HardReporters sports correspondent, authoritatively gathered that plans are already in top gear to sack the chairman of Delta State Football Association (DFA), Mr. Austin Jay Jay Okocha over what members of the Association described as incompetence, highhandedness among other allegations leveled against him.
One of the members who pleaded for anonymity confided in HardReporters, that Okocha is running the Association as a personal estate and attributed failures and relegations ravaging the state owned football clubs in recent time to Okocha’s inability to dedicate himself to the job describing him as absentee chairman.
“Plans are on to remove him as the chairman so that he can face his personal business. We can not avoid to work with him again. Okocha is always on the move on personal business trips around the globe, leaving the Association to suffer. We can no longer leave the future of our clubs in the hands of one man. We the members of the Association have concluded plans to meet very very soon and decide the fate of Okocha because we must move forward.” the member said.
Meanwhile, speaking in an interview on 96.5 Hot fm, Asaba and monitored by HardReporters Sports correspondent, member of the Association, Mr. Lucky Sunday, accused the Delta State Football Association (DFA), chairman, Mr. Austin Jay Jay Okocha of incompetence even as he attributed relegations been faced today by some of the state owned football clubs to the lackadaisical way and manner Okocha was running affairs of the state football.
“Okocha is not fit to run the affairs of the Delta State Football Association. Okocha, is not on ground to oversee the affairs of the Association, you can not see him to do anything with. Today, he is in London, tomorrow in USA, travelling around the World. You call him, he does not pick his calls, he does not return your calls, does not respond to your text messages. He does not even pick his SA’s calls. How can our football clubs perform.? What our clubs are facing today can be attributed to Okocha’s failure and incompetence.”
According to the chairman of the Delta State League Management Board, during the reign of the President Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick as chairman of the Association in Delta, the state owned football clubs were talk of the town and victories were always recorded adding that “Since the coming of Okocha, what we get is failure, crashed out and relegation from left right and this is not healthy for our clubs.”
Mr. Sunday, however revealed that in no distance time, the fate of Okocha would be decided for the betterment of football in the state, saying that a meeting of the Delta State Football Association (DFA), would soon be called to take a stand on the chairman as the Association can no longer tolerate Okocha’s absenteeism and incompetency.
Mr. Austin Jay Jay Okocha came into office as chairman, Delta State Football Association (DFA), in February, 2015 through the ballot after defeating his opponent, Mr. Evans Egbo.
