On Wednesday, during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), between the Delta State Government and God is Good Motors Limited to finally sealed the N161 million sale of Delta Transport Company Limited (Delta Line), Governor Ifeanyi Okowa declared that “Since inception of Delta Line, it has not rendered returns to the coffers of the State government despite series of government recapitalisation of the company.”
According to the governor, “Since 1999, I have seen Delta Line grow and go down, it is because, we don’t have the expertise to run it profitably; every time it is down, government will recapitalise the company, but at the end, what we get is another set of debts to be paid.”
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor signed the MoU on behalf of the Delta State Government while the Chairman of God is Good Motors Limited, Mr. Chidi Ajaere signed on behalf of his company.
Meanwhile, documented financial records mailed to HardReporters have exposed governor Okowa’s deception and lies on the non remittance issues. The records however revealed so far how much Delta Line generated monthly and lodged into the following state government lodgement accounts, Eco Bank: 2152013803, Zenith Bank:1011009840, Union Bank: 0034717078, UBA:1001226305.
“Governor Okowa is only interested in his interest hence the bent on giving out of Delta line to God Is Good. The governor lied, how can he continue to lie to the people that Delta Line don’t remit money to the state government when there are papers, documents and financial records to show. Okowa has only succeeded in achieving his personal interest, we have not see such a wicked governor before.” a government official lamented.
The sale of the company has however sparked off series of controversy, within and outside the state, revealing that it was all a racket spearheaded by governor Okowa, Commissioners for Finance, Mr. David Edevbie, Economic Planning, Mr. Kingsley Emu and Okowa’s crony, Lulu.
Below are the documented financial records of Delta Line as against Okowa’s claim of non remittance.
