The lawmaker representing Isoko North constituency and Majority Leader, Delta state house of Assembly, Tim Owhefere, has condoled with his constituents, the people of Emevor community, Isoko North council of the state who lost their buildings and properties worth millions of naira to a violent storm which swept through their community last week.
Mr. Owhefere who was on an official visit to the storm ravaged community in company of government officials, his aides and supporters was conducted round the affected areas by community leaders.
The Majority Leader while describing the incident as devastating, thank God that no life was lost.
“I am here to convey the sympathy of the government to you on the ugly wind that blew here recently. The government of Delta state clearly understands how you feel and will do everything within its power to cushion your pains. First I give God the glory that no life was lost because what I saw here today was devastating and it is something that possibly life could have been lost. The destruction was massive, several buildings were affected, buildings were de-roofed, even economic trees and electric poles were not spared. It’s a very serious issue and people are rendered helpless.” Owhefere lamented.
The lawmaker who paid a visit on the Odion of Emevor, HRH Solomon Onovughakpo, at his palace, sympathised with the monarch with a promise to swiftly look into the plight of the people adding that government was already on the know of the incident.
The monarch, thanked and commended the lawmaker for the prompt visit and appealed for urgent response to enable the affected people stand back on their feet again.
