Delta Permanent Secretary’s Brother Burgles Establishment Office, Caught Carting Away Valuables


HardReporters has learnt that the younger brother to the Permanent Secretary (PS), Delta State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Austin Oghoro, was two weeks ago caught by security men burgling offices in Establishment and Pension at the old state secretariat, Asaba.

The PS’s brother whose name was given as John Oghoro who is also a staff of Establishment, was said to have gone to the office at about 2:00 am, burgled the office and in the process of carting away, electronics, computers, and other office equipment, he was caught by security guards on duty who gave him the beating of his life.

Some staff of Establishment who confided in our correspondent said, Oghoro who was beaten to a state of coma was forced to reveal his identify at that dark hour, mentioning that he is a staff of Establishment he came to burgled and that his elder brother is the Permanent Secretary (PS), Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Austin Oghoro and a call was put to the PS who rushed down to the scene.

At this junction, our correspondent gathered that, the PS who was so ashamed of his younger brother’s kleptomaniac act, brought out huge sum of money and bribed the security guards on duty and others to keep the issue from the police, especially the general public and press.

HardReporters correspondent also gathered that in his bid to further cover the act from further spread, the PS also offered some huge sum of money to some Journalists who later got wind of the incident.

All efforts to reach the suspect was not successful but when HardReporters contacted his elder brother to react to the bribery allegation leveled against him, Austin Oghoro told our correspondent to come with evidence against him whenever the Ministry which is under lock and key for rent indebtedness is opened by its landlord, stressing that “You can contact the thief. Come with you evidence against me whenever the office is open. Better still, you can meet with the suspected.” Oghoro said.

It was gathered that the PS’s younger brother and his gang were those behind the recent burgling of the state old secretariat and robbery incident that occurred at the commissioner’s quarters a month ago.
