Operatives of the Nigeria Army, 19 battalion, Koko, have arrested and handed over a notorious criminal known as Mr. Sunday Okoro, alias G1 and hitman to Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya, said to be terrorizing Sapele and its environs.
Okoro who is the leader of the dreaded “White Ladder” in Sapele, HardReporters reliably learnt was arrested with four of his gang members during a gun duel with the Army in Sapele, Sapele local government area of Delta state.
An eye witness account disclosed that, Okoro who has been on the wanted and watch list of security operatives as a result of his alleged involvement in kidnapping, murder and armed robbery among others, was used by Igbuya during the 2015 general elections.
“I saw everything as it happened, and it was after the soldiers overpowered alias G1 that his four members were arrested by the soldiers at the hotel at Shell road Sapele, Delta State. Dadagweye, Jonathan Agbajaja (aka Niteman) got bullet wounds, Edafe Akpoisi, PA to G1 and his hotel manager were all arrested and we heard they were taken to the 4th Brigade command, Benin city.” eye witness said.
It was gathered that riffles recovered from Okoro were later dropped following severe pressure from the Delta House of Assembly speaker because he wants the whole issues thrown out from the Delta state police headquarters, Asaba, where the suspects are said to be undergoing interrogation.
HardReporters further gathered that, a stooge of the speaker and contractor who supplies foods to military personnel under SEPLAT Nigeria Oil Company has been holding talks with the Brigade commander, 4th Brigade in Benin City, Edo State and has succeeded in compromising the commander which paved way for the dropping of the riffles recovered from the ring leader and replaced with a locally made gun so as to give the speaker’s hitman a soft landing.
HardReporters gathered that the speaker’s stooge and political associate, met and tasked family members of arrested suspects to go and look for N4 million with a promise that himself and the speaker shall support with N7 million to get the suspects freed.
All calls put to the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Andrew Aniamaka were not answered but police sources confirmed the transfered of the suspects to the police headquarters after been arrested by the Army.
HardReporters recalled that sometime, 2016 after Delta state house of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Monday Igbuya had allegedly given out a bribe of N3 million, men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Force Headquarters Abuja still went ahead to arrest his hitman along side one Mr. Dakum, a lawyer hired by Igbuya.
It would also be recalled that early 2015, about 50 youths from Okirighwre community in Sapele local government area of the state protested and accused the Speaker of giving a bribe of N5 million to the DPP and some officials of the Ministry of Justice, Delta state to release members of alias G1 killer cult group who the speaker had always used for political purposes during elections.
All efforts to reach the Delta state house of Assembly speaker, Mr. Monday Igbuya, were not successful as his mobile phone rang severally while that of his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Henry Ebireri was not reachable as at the time of going to press.
