The House of Representatives Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for Isoko federal constituency, in the just concluded 2019 elections, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has described Easter as a symbolic feast that reveals love and sacrifice for the redemption of humanity.
In his Easter message, Joel-Onowakpo, former chairman, Delta state Internal Revenue Board, and former Coordinator, Federal Inland Revenue Service, in charge of Rivers, Edo and Delta state, rejoiced with Christians all over Nigeria, particularly in Isoko nation over the resurrection of Jesus Christ, “who died to set mankind free from the bondage of sin,” appealing to all Christians to follow the steps of Christ by extending love to fellow mankind and sacrificing for the well being of humanity.
“Easter reminds us of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; a sacrificial lamb that was crucified for the redemption of humanity from the bondage of sin. This is a huge sacrifice in history of mankind and it has its foundation on love.
“I rejoice with all Christians all over the world, particularly my people of Isoko North and South Constituency and pray that may the spirit of love that defines Easter lives among us, so that we can prioritize the welfare of humanity ahead of our personal interests”.
Joel-Onowakpo however acknowledged Easter as the most important feast in Christianity “because it depicts how man was set free from the oppression of the devil. this season calls for a sober reflection on the ultimate sacrifice that was paid by Jesus Christ as such all Christians must to live a selfless life like Christ has shown.”
