More facts have beginning to emerge on how Delta state commissioner for information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, popularly referred to as “Erratic” received gratification to halt the earlier suspension of fraudulent General Manager, of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, Mr. Tunde Omonode alias, (Terry Mackson).
It would be recalled that uncontrollable wide jubilation erupted Monday following the indefinite suspension of the embattled General Manager, Delta Broadcasting Service, (DBS), Warri, Mr. Tunde Omonode, by Frank Apokwu led investigation panel set up to investigate his alleged fraudulent practices and theft of office equipment which he was found culpable.
The panel recommended a transfer of service as against dismissal penalty for misconduct on the ground that the GM has served over 20 years as civil servant.
Barely 24 hours after the GM’s suspension, HardReporters reliably learnt, the GM drove to the Ministry of Information, Asaba the following day with undisclosed amount of money see the commissioner and thereafter the suspension was lifted and asked the GM to resume office immediately.
Impeccable sources at the Information Ministry, confided in our correspondent that the embattled GM and the commissioner are partners at looting the broadcasting house dry.
“The GM and the commissioner run shows together, the GM always send kickbacks to commissioner in the office so as to always protect him. The panel that suspended the GM was headed by Mr. Frank Apokwu, Director of Admin here in our Ministry of Information, is the commissioner saying he is not aware and does not have confidence in the panel when he said the whole issues will be investigated again.
“Commissioner was keen about the panel when it started but all of a sudden after receiving kickback from the GM the music has changed. By this action, it means the commissioner is supporting fraud, corruption and stealing of government properties. Do you know that the tenure of the GM has elapsed but because of the regular kickbacks from the GM, he has bluntly refused to listen to anyone talking about the GM’s tenure that has elapsed since last year. I want to say again that the action of the commissioner suggests that he is supporting and covering up corruption.” a director in the ministry confided in our correspondent.
It was gathered that on arrival from Asaba, the embattled GM began to boast that his issue died on arrival and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
HardReporters reliably learnt that the GM, Omonode pleaded guilty before the investigative panel following revelations made by witnesses while in his letter he confirmed carrying the company’s properties to his private home.
Following Ukah’s action, it was gathered crisis and strike is already brewing in the broadcasting house.
As at press time all messages and calls made to the commissioner for information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, were ignored.
