The Academic and non-Staff of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Effurun, Delta state, yesterday embarked on indefinite strike following the non-payment of their salaries, gratuities and other welfare benefits been owed them by the Institution.

The strike action, HardReporters gathered crippled the ongoing examinations of the institution which forced the school authority to put on hold the examinations.

HardReporters news crew who visited the institution Friday were not allowed access to the school premises as the main entrance gate of the institution was under lock and key by the vexing staff who crippled the examinations that were to take place Friday.

Speaking to HardReporters news crew, an aggrieved member of staff who simply identified herself as Rosemary said the school authority has continued to treat them as second class citizens without bothering about their plights.

As at the time of filing in this report, all efforts to reach the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akii Ibhadode proved abortive as he rebuffed all calls put to his mobile phone while on his part, the institution’s image maker, Mr. Boniface Onyedi pretended not to be aware of the issue.
