A youth group, Independent Youths of Niger Delta, (IYND), has dismissed what it called unfounded sponsored allegations against the Minister of state for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and any other appointees from the region by a faceless group which styled itself as Niger Delta Coalition (NDC).
While warning the Niger Delta Coalition to desist forthwith from all forms of negative propaganda and attacks on the Minister, IYND, vowed to wage its wrath against NDC should it smear the name of the minister again.
In a statement signed by IYND spokesperson, Comrade Ezenwa Mcpaul, and made available to our correspondent, expressed worries at the rising spate of media attacks and smear campaign against some illustrious sons of the Niger Delta by the faceless group which only exists on the pages of newspapers.
“The attacks are being spearheaded and sponsored by those who are out of business due to the tremendous efforts of the Minister of state for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to ensure that the visions and programmes of the present administration of President Buhari for the people of the region takes root. Though, the minister is not perturbed by the wicked manner in which corruption is fighting back, it was out of conviction on the need to stand up and speak before those they addressed as charlatans mislead the people.”
The youth body wondered why anybody will choose to drag the high flying reputation of Mr. Kachikwu to the mud after all the sacrifices he has put in to ensuring that peace does not only returned and sustained in the Niger Delta region, but he also stuck out his neck on so many other known issues that are dear to the hearts and aspirations of the people of the region.
“We find that statement credited to one Young Piero where he accused the Minister of sponsoring the NDA as treacherous and deformative as it could be and we want to use this medium to call on him and anybody behind him to retract that publication or provide substantiable evidences within 7 days or be prepared to defend it in court. The days of cheap blackmail either to get attention or compensation is gone.” the statement read in parts.
