Godwin Ogorugba, chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state has said he is operating a media friendly administration even as he assured members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists a robust synergy.
The council boss, who stated this during a courtesy visit on him by members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Isoko Chapel in his office, Ozoro, headquarters of the local government, reiterated the commitment of his administration to commence the payment of the new minimum wage to civil servant in the council from November, 2024.
“My administration is media friendly and will sustain the synergy towards effective coverage and dissemination of information of the local government area. I will partner with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Isoko Chapel and provide quarter or monthly subvention to assist in the effective coverage of the local government programs implementation.
“Let me also use this opportunity to enumerate some of my achievements in the past one hundred days in office to include, adopting community policing strategy in the fight against crimes in the local government area and We have so far restored peace in communities that had crisis in the area. Construction and completion of 50 lockup stores at Ofagbe community through direct labour, distribution of books and shoes to students in the area and resurfacing of Otor–Owhe and Iyede road.
“My administration has installed data software for staff free access to Internet services for communication in the council secretariat, we have provided drugs to the health centres in the local government area. Arrangements to provide soy milk for nursing mothers and women in the area will soon be concluded. Our administration will provide motorcycles to the securitymen towards effective crime control in the local government area.”Ogorugba noted.
Earlier, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Isoko Chapel, Michael Ilaya said, the union was on a courtesy visit to seek areas of collaboration with the local government chairman, Godwin Ogorugba on information gathering and publication.
Ilaya however requested for a periodical press briefing and informed the council chairman that Isoko chapel won the best chapel award in the state, three years ago.
