A new set of leaders to champion the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko nation of Delta state have been inaugurated.
The birth of the new leadership to oversee the affairs of the party in Isoko South and Isoko North local government areas of the state took place weekend at the country home of the former leader of the party and member of Board of Trustees (BoT), late Senator Francis Spanner Okpozo at Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Council.
The decision to inaugurate a new leadership, HardReporters learnt, followed the demise of the former leader of the party, Senator Okpozo who was laid to rest few weeks ago at his country home in Ozoro.
The event which was attended by some leaders, elders, stakeholders and party faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a unanimous decision elected the duo of Chief Lucky Esigie (Esco) and Deacon Isaac Osiobe as leader and deputy leader to step into the shoes of the late leader of the party, Senator Okopozo, in Isoko to oversee the affairs of the party in Isoko nation.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, one of the elders of the party, Deacon Patrick Emerhana eulogised the virtues of late Senator Francis Spanner Okpozo and charged all APC faithful in the area to passionately pursue the vision of the late political icon who gave his all in the defence of democracy and Isoko’s interest.
Deacon Emerhana, stated that the Okpozo leadership foundation was established to drive home the vision of late Senator Okpozo.
Also speaking, the elated newly inaugurated leaders, Chief Lucky Esigie and Deacon Isaac Osiobe thanked all APC members of Isoko extraction for reposing confidence in them and vowed to pursue vigorously all what the late Senator Okpozo stood for in his life time.
“I am delighted today to enjoy the overwhelming support of the APC family in Isoko nation. Leadership is a greater responsibility, we therefore solicits for your cooperation and prayers for us to succeed.” Esigie stated.
On his part, the deputy leader, Deacon Isaac Osiobe corroborated the position of party leader, Chief Lucky Esigie and described the late Senator Okpozo as a grand commander in the school of politics who meant well for the Isoko nation and Nigeria.
The APC Isoko North chairman and chairman of all chairmen, Mr. Onojega who spoke on behalf all APC Chairmen in Isoko drawn from all the wards, pledged the cooperation and absolute loyalty of the chairmen to the new leadership. Mr. Onojega extolled the sterling qualities of Chief Lucky Esigie and Deacon Isaac Osiobe, describing them as rare leaders of inestimable value to the Isoko nation.
Highlights of the event was the welcoming of new members who defected from other political parties to the All Progressives Congress in Isoko.
Our correspondent who witnessed the event reports that Mr. Okiemute Essien, former member, Delta State House of Assembly representing Isoko South 1, Mr. Sunny Ogwilaya, a former Delta South senatorial candidate, Surveyor Akarogbe, Delta State APC leader from Oyede, Mr. Ambrose, secretary Delta State interim State Executives, Mr. Akokotu Godstime Oghenero, APC leader, Iyede ward and Mr. Blessing Okpogadie, APC Emevor ward and host of other party faithful and elders attended the event.
