Delta state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Mr. Kingsley Esiso has been accused of stealing a proposal presented to him on a PDP mega rally for governor Ifeanyi Okowa which about now taking place at Sapele stadium, Sapele local government area of the state.
Chief Press Secretary to the impeached speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Mr. Henry Ebireri who made the allegation against the state PDP chairman, expressed shock that a proposal on a mega PDP rally for the state governor earlier presented to the ‘dullard’ party chairman was stolen, converted to his and executed.
HardReporters recalled that the media assistant to the former speaker, had issued a press statement sometime ago entitled “2019: Deltans Back Okowa, Hold Rally In Sapele”, Ebireri explained that a group was already working round the clock to mobilise about 200, 000 people for a mega rally in support of governor Okowa.
“About 200,000 people are expected to join leaders of the new political action committee, Deltans for Continuity (DFC) to mobilize millions of Nigerians, particularly Deltans to support Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019. Convener of Deltans for Continuity, Mr. Henry Ebireri in a press statement issued in Asaba Thursday, said thousands of Nigerians will be at the rally in Sapele.
“The group according to Ebireri will use the rally to urge Deltans, home and abroad, to stand up and give Okowa the authority to continue to develop the state. Okowa’s passion, energy and effective leadership make him the right person to keep the job going “the statement said. A large array of local, national and international leaders will be present at the rally” the statement added.
Barely after a month, he issued the statement, Ebireri was shocked to discover that his proposed rally has been stolen and hijacked by the Delta state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Mr. Kingsley Esiso and billed for Friday, 23, June, 2017 at the same venue.
In a statement by embittered and angry convener of the proposed mega PDP rally for Okowa, Mr. Ebireri described the action of the state PDP chairman as stealing.
“Your party chairman, Kingsley Esiso thinks he is smart. I released a press statement on behalf of Deltans for continuity announcing a major rally for Okowa. I met him, discussed how I intend mobilizing Deltans for the governor as part of relationship between the legislature and the executive.
“I left the Sapele Rally proposal with him. He said he would get back to me. A smart boy, he hijacked the programme, constituted committees and sourced for funds without bringing me into the picture. This is our Delta State.” he lamented.
