* Plans To Bribe His Way Out
* Hires Students To Defend Him On Social Media
In an efforts to save his job, following the alleged looting of the institution’s treasury, embattled ‘corrupt’ Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Isoko North local government area of the state, Mr. Job Akpodiete, is said to be currently running from pillar to post begging the leadership of the Isoko Development Union, (IDU), traditional rulers and other political leaders in the land to intervene in his predicament.
HardReporters had exclusively reported how the rector has alleged siphoned of millions of naira from the institution’s treasury through reckless award of contracts, buying of official vehicles, among others.
The rector’s current predicament according to impeccable sources, if not properly handled might cost him hi job, followed a strong worded petition addressed to governor Ifeanyi Okowa by a pan Isoko foremost group, Isoko Monitoring Group, (IMG), signed by her president, Mr. Sebastine Agbefe, and obtained by our correspondent.
HardReporters reliably sources revealed that at present, following the group’s petition which is already been looked into by the state government, the rector is going from one place to another in an unceremonious or fruitless manner to lobby leaders and elders of Isoko to intervene and save the situation.
“Our rector is having a serious sleepless nights following the petition of that group called IMG. I am a lecturer in that school, though not from Isoko, but I can tell you the rector is seriously troubled. Just last week, he called a meeting of lecturers and non-academic staff from Isoko extraction to do something to save his job.
“I can confirm to you that already something is been done, I learnt a letter was written to the leadership of IDU and some traditional rulers in Isoko on the issue. Aside that letter, other things are been doing to pacify some nerves just to give the rector a clean bill of heart. The rector on his own, is also begging some political leaders and monarchs in the area too to intervene and save his job.” a lecturer confided in our correspondent.
Also confiding in our correspondent, a staff in the office of the rector who pleaded for anonymity for fear of victimization, disclosed that the embattled rector was already working out some modalities to engage some persons and unions in the institution, especially from the Isoko extraction to carry out various publications in his favour in order to exonerate him from all the allegations leveled against him by the Isoko group.
“But on a serious note, the rector is a very corrupt man who is always using religion to cover up and deceive the people while he perpetrate his sharp practices in the institution. I can tell you that majority of the institution’s staff, not only from Isoko but from other tribes are very happy with the IMG for that bold steps taken so far. How we wish other groups can emulate the IMG.
“We learnt the matter is before the Honourable commissioner for Higher Education, Mr. Jude Sinebe, and we ask how are we sure any good result will come from there.? Because as we talk, Jude Sinebe is still been paid monthly salaries from the school as a part time lecturer even after been appointed as a commissioner. The rector will bribe the commissioner and he will be exonerated just watch.” the staff stated.
Our correspondent gathered that since the news of the rector’s financial scandal broke, he has hired the services of some students in the institution to defend and launder his image on the social media.
Meanwhile, the group has vowed to follow up the issue to a logical conclusion with the facts and documents at his disposal without minding whose ox is gored.
Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Mr. Job Akpodiete, had earlier denied the allegations leveled against him by IMG, adding that all approvals and release of funds were given nod to by the institution’s governing council.
