The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has flagged off the Isoko North State Wards Empowerment Programme, aimed at supporting constituents, improving their welfare and promoting grassroots economic development.

The first phase of the programme covered Ozoro State Wards 14, 15, 16 and 17; Owhelogbo Wards 7 and 8; Otibio Ward 20; Otor-Owhe and Akiewhe-Oweh Wards 9 and 10; and Iyede Wards 1, 2 and 3. A total of 200 beneficiaries drawn from the participating wards received ₦50,000 each.
The exercise attracted beneficiaries, stakeholders, party leaders, faithful and large crowds at the designated centres.
While officially flagging off the initiative Monday, Ogorugba commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the empowerment programme, describing it as a laudable initiative that would promote self-reliance, strengthen grassroots development and improve the welfare of constituents across Isoko North and Delta State.

He explained that beneficiaries were selected from the participating wards to ensure fair representation, adding that the initiative was designed to cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges on the people.
The council chairman reaffirmed the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to the development, advancement and empowerment of residents across the state through the MORE Agenda.

Ogorugba urged the beneficiaries to utilise the financial support judiciously, particularly by investing in small-scale businesses that could improve their livelihoods and strengthen economic activities within the local government area.
He also advised them to shun negative behaviours and activities capable of jeopardising their future, stressing the importance of responsible conduct and productive use of the opportunity provided by the programme.

According to the council chairman, the empowerment exercise would continue simultaneously across the remaining wards, with the second phase scheduled to cover Emevor, Oyede, Ofagbe, Okpe-Isoko, Ellu, Aredhe and Ovrode.
Ogorugba further called on constituents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing optimism that the party would record electoral victories in the 2027 general elections.

The first phase of the programme was also attended by ward leaders, whose supervision and coordination contributed to the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise.
