The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, on Saturday received the President Generals of Owhe Kingdom, led by Dr. Israel Adaigho, at his country home in Otor-Igho, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The visit formed part of ongoing consultations between the Isoko North Local Government Council and community leaders aimed at strengthening unity, peace, mutual understanding and grassroots development across the local government area.
Welcoming the delegation, Ogorugba expressed appreciation to the President Generals of Owhe Kingdom for the visit, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the strong relationship between the council administration and the traditional and community leadership of the area.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and the effective implementation of the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, across all communities in Isoko North.
According to him, the development of the local government cannot be achieved by the council alone, stressing that traditional rulers, President Generals, community leaders, youth organisations and other stakeholders must work together to build a peaceful and prosperous Isoko North.
Ogorugba said, “I sincerely appreciate the President Generals of Owhe Kingdom for finding time to visit me today. This visit is not only a show of solidarity, but also an opportunity for us to strengthen the bond between the council and the people of Owhe Kingdom. As a government, we recognise that meaningful development must begin from the grassroots. That is why we are committed to maintaining an open-door administration where every community has a voice and where legitimate concerns can be brought forward for discussion and appropriate action.
“Owhe Kingdom remains an important part of Isoko North, and we will continue to engage its leaders in our collective efforts to promote peace, security and development. No government can succeed in an atmosphere of division and mistrust. We must therefore continue to encourage dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect among our people. We are also particularly concerned about the future of our youths. We want to create an environment where our young people can develop their talents, acquire relevant skills and become productive members of society. Government alone cannot do everything; we need the support and participation of community leaders, parents, professionals and other stakeholders.
“We will continue to work within the framework of the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to ensure that the benefits of government reach our communities. Our administration will remain committed to projects and programmes that have direct impact on the lives of our people. I want to assure the people of Owhe Kingdom that the council remains accessible. Whenever there are issues affecting the welfare, peace or development of the people, we are ready to listen, consult and work with the appropriate community leadership towards finding lasting solutions.
“Let us continue to put the interest of our people first. With unity of purpose, peaceful coexistence and sincere cooperation between the council and our communities, we can achieve much more for Isoko North.”, Ogorugba stated.
Earlier, the chairman of the Owhe Clan President Generals Forum, Israel Adaigho, commended Isoko North council chairman, Ogorugba, for what he described as his people-oriented leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
Adaigho noted that the council chairman’s engagements with communities had strengthened the relationship between the local government and its various stakeholders. He also commended the administration for projects and interventions across Isoko North, particularly in Owhe Kingdom.
He pledged the continued support and cooperation of the President Generals and people of Owhe Kingdom for programmes and policies of the Ogorugba-led administration, stressing the importance of collective efforts in promoting peace and development.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to deliberate on issues affecting Owhe Kingdom and explore further areas of collaboration between the local government council and the community.
The engagement ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to sustained dialogue, peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and the overall development of Isoko North Local Government Area.
