Ondo Governorship: Mimiko Out, Akeredolu In

Mr Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, of the
All Progressives Congress, APC, was today sworn in as the new governor of Ondo state following the expiration of the second tenure of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko that ended today.

Akeredolu, who took his oat of office as the sixth governor of Ondo state at about 11:34am on Friday shortly after the swearing in of his deputy, Alfred Ajayi, at the state capital, Akure, polled 244,842 votes to defeat Mr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 150,380 votes to clinched the second position in the state governorship election in November 2016.

The occasion was attended by governors Abiola Ajimobi and Godwin Obaseki of Oyo and Edo states; the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, the APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, Minister of Solid Minerals Dr Kayode Fayemi, friends and family members among others.
