The chairman of Isoko South local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, on Saturday in two separate meetings held behind closed doors, informed the council of traditional rulers, elected councillors and political appointees in the local government of the latest developments and the need they were moving from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Warri while explaining the reason behind the defection, disclosed it is for the betterment of Delta State and Isoko South adding that the decision to leave the party was carefully and primarily taken to avoid leading the state, vis-à-vis Isoko South and its citizens, into a bleak future, similar to the experience of Zamfara State.

Our Father’s, You will recall that since 1999, when the present Republic began, the PDP has held sway in Delta and Isoko South; the PDP was actually strong before our decision to move. The decision is not a sign of wracking but a strategic approach to avoid what could have brought regret to us, just like we saw in Zamfara state.

“As a child of the Isoko nation, I said I should brief my fathers first that the platform they used to know us over the years, which brought us to power, known as PDP, we’re changing it to APC.”

Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Ovie of the Emede kingdom said, HRM Johnson Egbo, Ewhiri 11  pledged the full support of the traditional rulers council to the council chairman, saying that “What is good for you, our son, is what we as fathers belong to; we will continue to support you irrespective of the political party. We are father to all.

“Traditional rulers don’t play active politics; instead, we give aspirants or candidates who are our sons our royal blessings. Whether PDP or APC, you have our royal blessings. We are proud of you; we love you the way God loves his beloved son. You are our own, and we will continue to support you. Your message from the state governor is simple and clear.”

Responding on behalf of the councillors and political class in Isoko South, the leader of the legislative arm,  Bright Olokor, thanked the council chairman for the information, especially drawing their attention officially and not from hearsay from outsiders in most cases. promising that where council chairman goes, they will all queue behind him to continue providing good governance to the people of the Isoko South.
