National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff has applauded the Supreme Court ruling on Friday reaffirming the governorship of Okezie Ikpeazu, as the Executive Governor of Abia State, describing the judgement as a booster of the party’s confidence in the judiciary.
The PDP National chairman while using the medium to congratulate Governor Ikpeazu for a well deserved victory, he said that the victory is not only for the governor, but for the people of Abia and the PDP nationwide.
In a statement signed on behalf of PDP National chairman and the party by its Deputy National Chairman, Cairo Ojougboh, and obtained by HardReporters said “By this victory, we want to encourage the governor to continue with the good work he’s being doing and overlook all distractions.”
“We also want to encourage you to forgive, carry everybody along and run an inclusive government that will make everyone to participate in the affairs of government. The Sheriff-National Working Committee wants to urge him to see this victory as a call to rally the other governors into the fold of PDP. He should play a role as a leader and urge the other governors to work hard to actualise the dream of the party, come 2019.
“We also want him to know that he has a major role to play as we prepare for the National Convention. We want him to forgive those who have offended him and those he offended he should reach out to them, being a leader of the state. The victory has been won, the victory song has been sang and the victory dance has been danced, it is time to hit the ground running.
“We want to assure you that the PDP led by Sen. Sheriff is strongly behind you. We celebrate your victory and pray that God will give you the grace and the strength to deliver the divided of democracy to the good people of Abia state, who have been praying tirelessly for your victory. Once again, we say congratulations to a man of vision, whose focus is to see that Abia’s name is written in the map of the world.” the statement adds.
