Refrain From Drugs, It Can Turn Your Sanity To Insanity, Uduaghan Admonishes Youths

Immediate past governor of Delta state, Emmanuel Uduaghan has admonished youths in Isoko nation, especially students not to indulge in any form of drug abuse.

Uduaghan who was speaking recently during the World International Women’s Day celebration held at Ozoro, headquarter of Isoko North local government area of the state, told the youths and school children, that drug abuse can turn their sanity to insanity therefore leading to the destruction of their future.

The event which was packaged by The Ideal Isoko Women (TIIW), to educate the Isoko child on drug abuse, parents on child molestation, rape as well as drug abuse and their consequences, the former governor charged Isoko youth and the school children to as a matter of urgency and importance desist from any kind of drug abuse, stressing that “there is no great man or woman in the world today who indulged in drug abuse when in their youthful days and became great today.”

According to Uduaghan who was a guest speaker on the theme “Drug Abuse And Its Consequences”, “Anybody who want to be responsible, dreaming to become a leader, engineer, doctor, lawyer accountant, pilot, etc tomorrow must abstain from drug abuse.”, and lamented what he called the spate of drug abuse by African children today, particularly Nigerian youths. “Your sanity can turn to insanity as a result of drug abuse. So you must abstain totally from drug abuse.” Uduaghan warned.

“What will you benefit by taking Indian Hemp, Tramadol, Alchol e.t.c? that the resultant effect is insanity, rape, unwanted pregnancy, arm rubbery, which is inimical to health and life. Most youth nowadays indulges in drug abuse because of sex, which will lead to STDs and abortion for girls and there is no legal abortion in Nigeria, they are all illegal which will lead to infertility in the female after marriage.” Uduaghan queried the youths and school children.

Mr. Uduaghan however used the medium to call on the Isoko parents to take absolute responsibilities for the monitoring of their children, check their home work, visit them in school, know the type of friends they are associating with, stressing that the glory of every child lies on the parental up bringing and the future of Isoko Nation, Delta state and Nigeria rest on these children/youths.

Also speaking at the event, chairman of Isoko North local government, Emmanuel Egbabor, urged every Isoko child to have the fear of God and obey their parents so that they can go high in life.

While thanked the organiser of the event and chief Executive Officer of The Ideal Isoko Women( TIIW), Mrs. Xino Arugba-Monnitey and her members for their efforts, and resources in educating and improving the standard of living of Isoko people both home and abroad, Egbabor called on all Isoko illustrious sons and daughters both home and in diaspora to emulate the kind gesture of (TIIW) to partner with government in developing and sustaining the cultural heritage of Isoko nation.

Speaking in the same vein, chairman, Isoko South local government who doubles as state chairman of the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria, ALGON), Itiako Ikpokpo (Malik), advocated effective and proper parenting as a panacea to the increasing incidences of drug abuse, rape and other social vices amongst student and youths.

Foremost educationist and founder, Twin Fountain School, Warri, Mrs. Florence Ehinlaye, (Grand Matron) of (TIIW), also presented a paper on child molestation.
