….Man United FC Sympathises With Families
Some 30 people have been reported dead at a football viewing centre in Calabar, Cross River State capital after being electrocuted by a high tension cable that reportedly fell on a soccer viewing center in the city.
The football fans assembled at the viewing centre to watch a UEFA Europa League quarter-final match.
The electricity cable broke from an overhead pole and fell on the football fans who had gathered at the centre to watch a UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht.
Manchester United won the match 3-2 aggregate.
Meanwhile, the Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade in statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press, Mr Christian Ita, sympathized with the family of those who lost their lives saying the incident marks a dark chapter in the life of the state. He promised to look into the cause of the accident in order to prevent a recurrence.
Manchester United FC has took to its Twitter to sympathize with the families of the United fans who died last night while watching the UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht in the local viewing centre.
Electricity authorities, have said it is illegal to construct buildings near high tension cables.
