…….Lawmakers, Commissioners, Senior Aides To Share Slots
Following the proposed sacking of over 402 workers in Delta state, fresh facts have emerged with governor Ifeanyi Okowa concluding plans to replace those to be fired with family members, kinsmen and cronies while remaining slots are to be shared among principal officers and members of the state house of Assembly, commissioners and senior aides to the governor.
Governor Okowa had directed that 530 staff who falsified their retirement age or refused to appear before the Verification Committee On Age Discrepancy And Date Of Birth and Employment of Public Officers in Delta State would be expunged from the state government payroll adding that the sum of N12.319 billion naira would be recovered from these public servants who fraudulently falsified their records of service.
The governor stated this while receiving the final report from the committee which had Nkem Okwuofu as chairman, on Monday in Asaba, and decried falsification of documents and laxity in the part of those who aid and abet such actions in the public service.
Earlier, while presenting the report, Okwuofu had disclosed that a total of 4,742 persons were screened, out of which 1,695 were cleared, 137 were asked to proceed on retirement, 810 had their dates of birth and employment corrected and 2,085 verified and affirmed while 402 were absent adding that the exercise has resulted in total financial gains of N12,319,762,921.20 naira for the state government.
HardReporters can authoritatively report that following this development, governor Okowa has mapped out plans to fix in his family members, kinsmen, cronies and share the rest slots among the principal officers and members of the state house of Assembly, commissioners and senior aides to the governor.
A senior staff of the civil service commission who pleaded for anonymity confided in HardReporters that plans are already on to replace the 402 civil servants the governor directed to be sacked adding that some of the affected 402 workers are cronies and family members of highly placed politicians and government officials.
“The governor is working in connivance with the chairman, Verification Committee On Age Discrepancy and Date Of Birth and Employment of Public Officers who doubles as the state chairman of civil service commission, Nkem Okwuofu to carry out secret recruitment. Some of the affected persons among the 402 workers are relations and cronies of top government officials and politicians.
“As I talk to you, all plans have been perfected and everything will be done secretly. Ask them would this in anyway reduce the N7 billion wage bill of the state government they have always cried about.? Have you taken your time to investigate what is going on in the governor Okowa’s skill acquisition program.?
“The slots were shared among, principal officers and members of the Delta state house of Assembly, commissioners and politicians across the state and that is exactly what is about to be replicated just immediately the 402 persons are sacked as directed by the governor. Its going to be a very secret recruitment.” our source revealed.
