The wife of Isoko North Local Government Area chairman of Delta state, Mrs Veronica Ogorugba on Tuesday in the mood of the festive season celebrated with widows drawn from the 13 wards in council area.
The Isoko North first lady also distributed cash and food items such as bags of rice, cartons of noodles and tomatoes, gallons of groundnut oil, tuber of yams and among other food items to the widows the Isoko North council secretariat, Ozoro, headquarters of the council.
The first lady also highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to maintain peace and unity, saying they are essential for sustainable development.
While emphasizing the importance of the kind gesture during the festive period to bring joy to the women, Mrs. Ogorugba thanked the beneficiaries for honouring her invitation despite at a very short notice.
“I want to thank all of you for coming despite the short notice. Our mother, the wife of the state governor, Deconess Tobore Obovrevwori has advised us to reach out to all of you, to bring smiles to your faces. Many of you are aware of the various efforts our governor, who is one of us from Isoko North, has made to positively impact lives.
“As a dedicated and hardworking governor, I appeal to all Isoko North women to continue supporting the return of our dear governor so he can keep up with his good work. Peace and unity are vital as we strive for a local government we can all be proud of. I also ask for your prayers for my husband’s administration. The government has just begun, and I assure you that by next year if God spares our lives, things will improve.”, the first lady assured the widows.
The women, filled with excitement, expressed their gratitude to the council’s first lady and her husband, Elder Godwin Ogorugba, describing the kind gesture as remarkable at a challenging time of economic situation and deserves commendation.
