Pots by All Progressives Congress, (APC) faction led by the senator representing Delta central in the national Assembly, Ovie Omo-Agege and former Labour Party governorship candidate, Great Ogboru to use armed thugs to invade venue of the Delta state rescheduled congress to cause havoc have been uncovered.

It would be recalled that the APC National Working Committee had postponed the Delta state congress to today, Monday, 21, May, 2018 with the College of Education (Technical), Asaba as its venue but the Omo-Agege and Ogboru faction went ahead to disobeyed the party’s NWC and conducted a parallel state congress on over the weekend at St. Mulumba College, Okpanam, Oshimili North local government area of the state.

HardReporters political correspondent reliably learnt that part of the plot is to use the armed thugs who have lodged in hotels in the state capital to scuttle the congress as soon as it commences.

An impeccable source who pleaded for anonymity confided in our correspondent that the Delta state police command is aware of the plot and security coverage is said to have been provided for the thugs. “I can confirm to you now that the thugs have already been provided with security cover through the security personnel that will be sent to the venue particularly from the State Police Command in a move similar to the stealing of the Mace of the Senate some weeks back. You know Omo-Agege has all the bad boys who can execute dirty deals for me.

“I can also confirm to you also that some youth leaders in the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor’s camp have been penciled down to be arrested on frivolous charges. Among those penciled down for arrest is an aide to the NDDC Executive Director of Projects, Mr. Samuel Adjogbe, who is a lawyer by profession and house of Assembly aspirant in the 2019 general elections. Do you know Barrister Egbo, he is among the persons to be arrested soon, just watch out.

“Today congress could be bloody based on plot by the other faction to disrupt the exercise. The Delta state police commissioner, Mustafa held several meetings with Omo-Agege and Ogboru. The thugs will be working with security men particularly the police to cause tension and unrest. The intention is to ensure that no other congress will take place in Delta than theirs that was held over the weekend.” our source revealed.

A top police officer in the Delta state police command who spoke with our correspondent Sunday night revealed that the state police commissioner, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa has been evading calls from Emerhor and his group and skeptical about giving today’s congress required police protection.

“Oga is avoiding the leaders from the Emerhor camp, he has been refusing to take their calls or take any proactive steps to address the threat, even when the APC NWC had written to him on the rescheduled state Congress. I over heard oga saying on phone, “which other Congress are you talking about, I thought the congress has been held on Saturday?.

“As at Saturday, Emerhor was already making arrangement to use his Abuja connection in the force headquarters to compel the state police commissioner to do the needful as far as today’s congress is concerned, but I don’t know how far he went. Some youth leaders of the party are also being targeted for arrest.” the security officer confided.

A security personnel who spoke with this medium on the condition of anonymity disclosed that the State Police Commissioner has been allegedly given a marching order to ensure that the exercise is not peaceful in a move to give the Omo-Agege/Ogboru faction advantage over the O’tega Emerhor which enjoys the blessing of the John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC.

HardReporters however learnt that the Emerhor camp which parades the likes of the former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, Pat Utomi, Hyacinth Enuha, Cairo Ojuogbo and other prominent leaders of the party are already aware of the insecurity development.

Meanwhile, our correspondent gathered that the state congress will go on as planned for today with its committee chairman, Eugene Odoh and other members presiding and with the backing of the party’s national working committee.

As at the time of this report, all calls put to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, were not responded to but a police officer confirmed that though all the allegations against the CP are false but the command was aware of the planned invasion of the state congress billed for today.
