Delta state faction of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), been championed by the former Labour Party governorship candidate, Great Ogboru and the senator representing Delta central in the national Assembly, Ovie Omo-Agege on Saturday held a state parallel congress.

As that was going on, members of the Delta Political Vanguard, (DPV) of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) were busy holding what they called unity mega rally for the reelection of governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Omo-Agege and Ogboru APC state parallel congress which was held at the St Mulumbas Secondary School, Okpanam, Oshimili North local government area of Delta state, was conducted in a tight security atmosphere.

HardReporters could recalled that before now, the national leadership of the party had earlier through a letter sacked the Olugbenga Obadara led Delta state APC Congress Committee, as well as postponing the state congress to Monday, May 21, 2018, but inspite of that Mr. Obadara went ahead to conduct a factional state congress in connivance with Ogboru and Omo-Agege.

The state parallel congress however returned Mr. Jones Erue as the state party chairman and over 30 other contestants to run the affairs of the state executive of the party in the next four years.

In a letter signed by the National Secretary of APC, Mr. Mai Mala Buni and made available to HardReporters Abuja Bureau Chief, shows the rescheduled Delta state APC congress has Mr. Eugene Odoh as the new congress committee chairman, Mr. John Odoh, Clark Dabwan, secretary, Mr. Jonathan Jibril, Mr. Ibrahim Nagogo and Mezie Linus are members.

Commenting on the Omo-Agege and Ogboru parallel state congress, Mr. O’tega Emerhor, leader of the party and its governorship candidate in 2015, stated that what happened was a mere exercise in futility that was carried out in an atmosphere of illegality.

According to unperturbed Emerhor, the national leadership of the party had since postponed the Delta state APC state congress to Monday, May 21, 2018, in Asaba with a new congress committee chairman in the person of Mr. John Odoh.

On his part, APC governorship aspirant, Mr. Cairo Ojougboh simply said, “It is a family disagreement. APC is one family and we shall overcome.”

Meanwhile, as the Omo-Agege and Ogboru APC faction was conducting its state parallel congress, members of the Delta Political Vanguard under the state Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), were busy holding what they called ‘unity’ mega rally for governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s reelection.
