HardReporters has learnt that a political aide and a police orderly working under the instructions of their boss, Delta state commissioner for information, Patrick Ukah, brutally beat one Alex Chibuzor, newly elected councillor representing Okpanam community, Oshimili North local government area of the state for daring to confront the commissioner on his victory, despite Ukah’s fight against his candidature.
Several eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the assault took place last week a day after the local government elections right at the Okpanam residence of the local government chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Mr. Ogwude.
A source and member of PDP in the area who witnessed the show of shame told our correspondent that the councillor had met the information commissioner, Mr. Ukah at the residence of the party chairman, mocking the commissioner that upon the fight put up against him becoming a councillor, he was elected to represent the community.
“And immediately, Chibuzor confronted the commissioner and began to mock him that inspite of the strong resistance put up against his candidature, he still won his election to represent his community. At this junction, the orderly attached to the commissioner and one of his aided became annoyed and were ordered by Ukah and Chibuzor was mercilessly beaten with blood gushing out of his face and nose.”
It was gathered that shortly after the assault, the commissioner who hails from the same Okpanam community with the councillor, left the scene of the incident with his entourage.
A close friend to Mr. Chibuzor, who confirmed the incident told our correspondent, that his friend and the information commissioner has been at loggerheads over political related issue prior to the PDP primaries before the council polls.
As at the time of filing in this report, calls put to the commissioner for information, Mr. Patrick Ukah were not successful.
