Armed irate youths of Ibedeni community in Ndokwa East local government area of Delta state, said to be working under the instructions of the traditional ruler, Eze Jonathan, Ogene of Ibedeni on Tuesday invaded a neighbouring Isoko community,
Okrama-Oyede, Isoko North local government area, destroying and setting ablaze properties worth some millions of naira and chased away inhabitants.
The traditional ruler, HardReporters reliably learned allegedly armed the irate youths numbering over 20 with the instruction to invade the Isoko community and destroy properties and capture anyone found in the community to his palace.
Displaced Okrama-Oyede community indigenes who spoke with our correspondent hinted that for several years now the Ibedeni monarch has been hatching the plans to annex the agrarian Isoko community until this week when the monarch allegedly mobilised the armed irate youths from his community and invaded the Isoko enclave community.
“The Ibedeni youths without any provocation stormed our community on discovering that some of us have gone to the farm and others gone to report the brewing tension to the Odiologbo of Oyede Kingdom. As they invaded our community and began to destroy our properties the news came to us. Poultry, buildings and homes and other things were destroyed and looted.
“The plan was to kill Edighaji and other indigenes just to claim our community. Some of our brothers and sisters who were at home as at the time of invasion are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the Isoko North and Isoko South local government areas. One of my aunties was beaten up mercilessly and over 400 birds in was poultry and other things were razed down.” Akpobome, displaced indigene of Okrama-Oyede said.
Also speaking, another displaced indigene who simply identified herself as Roboghene, called on the state commissioner of police, governor Ifeanyi Okowa and President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and come to the aid of the displaced community.
“If not God so many of us would have been killed by now by the armed youths of the monarch. Okrama-Oyede residential building of the Odio of the community, Chief Cornelius Julius Ogbodu, a retired High Court Chief registrar was also destroyed by the youths. The perpetrators of the heinous crime must be brought to book.
“The Ibedeni monarch has perceived that oil has been discovered in our community hence he is doing everything possible to annex the community as part of his Kingdom. We have already intimated the police at Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North local government area over the development and no arrest has been made.” Roboghene stated.
Meanwhile, an Isoko youth group, Isoko Action Group (IAG) while condemning the invasion warned the Ibedeni monarch, Eze Jonathan, to a matter of importance desist besting the drums of war, urging him to produce the youths who invaded the community or be prepared to face dire consequences.
Isoko Action Group (IAG) while calling on the state commissioner of police to arrest the warring monarch and the youths and bring them to book to serve as deterrent, warned that any further attempt by the monarch to lay claim to Okrama-Oyede would be vehemently resisted.
As at the time of filing in this report, it was reliably gathered that the President General of Isoko Development Union, (IDU), Iduh Amadhe who led a high power delegation to the Isoko community were shocked with level of destruction and condemned the act while calls and messages put across to the Ibedeni traditional ruler, Eze Jonathan, were rebuffed.
