Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state, Godwin Ogorugba, on Sunday hosted women aged 70 and above from Otibio Ward 13 at his residence in Otor-Igho to mark the Easter celebration and show of appreciation for their unwavering support and prayers.
Ogorugba recalled a touching moment during his election campaigns when his wife informed him that a group of aged women from Otor-Igho community had come together to contribute financially towards his election, adding that he was so touched and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their gesture.
“During my election, I was deeply moved by your support. Your financial contribution stood out as a remarkable act of love and commitment, and you have always been there for me and my family. My decision to host women aged 70 and above was purposeful and due to age, many of them rarely attend public events.
“This Easter, I felt it was important to gather all of you who are 70 and above. Your prayers and support during the election have always meant so much to me. In the spirit of the celebration I want everyone to embrace the spirit of Christ’s sacrifice by showing love and unity among one another.”
The council chairman assured the women of his commitment to the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Isoko North in consolidating the MORE Agenda of governor Sheriff Oborevwori and promised not to let them down.
While pledging to continue to reach out to Otibio Ward and entire Isoko North at large, Ogorugba stressed that his developmental projects and empowerment initiatives would extend across all parts of Isoko North, as he is Chairman for the entire local government, not just one ward.
Ogorugba was joined by his wife, Dcns Veronica Ogorugba, as well as several persons including the former leader of the Isoko North legislative arm, Ogona Felix Efe; PDP chairman of Otibio Ward, Peter Onaibre; Osifihor Ajiri; Samuel Alukuziewe; Supervisor for Environment, Alebe Joshua Onos; SA Erero Jacob Oloku; PA Barr.
